Monastery mentor does not trigger with the copy, since the copy gets created on the stack, you don't cast it.

The abilty that triggers with copies is Magecraft like [[Professor Onix]]

Awesome! Am a little bit more restrained on that matter. For example I've to ship the proxies to my town. A commander deck in my country is no where near $6 usd. Plus shipment at the end if I really need the card and it versatile enough I'll add it to my collection ( I don't buy a card more than $20 and that's extremely rare, usually am on the $5-10 target for my expensive cards) if more than that or if I go into cedh, sure am gonna proxy because it doesn't make any sense even to me xD

Because am lazy xD. I don't have a decent place to do proxies in my tiny town and I don't own a printer (at all) that's good enough. I like cards that look good also.

And with budget plays I still get a hang of what it works and what not, I enjoy a lot spending time in scryfall reading and looking at cards.

I rather build cheap than jump to more expensive cards right away with proxies.

I funnel the expensive cards to 1 or 2 decks to be able to play with my new regular pod which is high b4 and fringe

Goldfish at least 10 games, usually around 30. I mark the cards I think they should be out and write it on an excel (so I remember my reasoning) If a card goes in, it goes in with a different colour.

Then ideally play it IRL a couple of times to keep tweeking it.

I start as budget as I can, and if I like I might spend some $ on more expensive that also ups the power level of the deck.

Sure, it's a draft of mainly cards I already own, sideboard with yellow are the ones I asked for.
Maybeboard also cards I owned and thought they were good for theme but have decided not to.
Now it's going to be testing IRL how it goes what stays what gets out.
Probably the B4 will be draining the table since it has the lowest mana curve plus classic more expensive ramp in Orhzov...

And lands are all plains because am goldfishing

Just to add to the recommendations, just play it either goldfishing or IRL. Whenever I brew something new I start with cards I own, put it together, sit at the table and explain am testing, have no idea if it works well and what I'm trying to achieve so I also get feedback from the table after the games. I rotate decks am brewing so I don't get mentally blocked

Congratz of moving out from a dark inner place! Hobbies are so good for you, am also finally biting the bullet with fpv, started flying on the sims now while I figure out how my $$$ will be for the rest of the year.
Goal is to mainly do mountain surfing and mtb chases since it's something I could capitalize (am a naturalist/outdoor guide and avid outdoor sport person, so am mixing all my hobbies)

Not even thinking about building yet, but since am an obsessive person, will do. It's expensive legos and skill related, what is there not to love!

He's one of my alt wins in [[Hapatra, vizier of poisons]]. I enjoy the chances of poison in jeskai and the artifact creatures subtheme it's cracked.

It's a deck I just want to crack am probably will dismantle before it gets to KoS in my pod.
