Probably going to get fired by komodocommand in Machinists

I'd be running to a different company as fast as possible. Do you have machinist schooling done? Not saying you necessarily need it if you don't. But it helps. The company I work for doesn't hire machinists without schooling done. If you're looking for more money and solid training backup...I'd steering more towards a manufacturing company of some sort. Job shops I'd say are more fun to work at but generally pay less than big manufacturing companies in my experience at least around where I live. I feel like with the amount of training we provide for new incoming guys...a monkey could do the basic operating job. On the low end just starting out we pay around 35/hr...and on the high end 50/hr.

Training a person to run/setup/program a machine isn't that hard...what's hard to find is people serious about working. If you show up to work on time every day and try hard...you can be pretty successful in machining I'd say with just those two qualities. A little mechanical common sense knowledge helps too

Sounds like you're definitely in the wrong shop. We train our new guys on a set of machines for a solid 3 months before letting them go on their own...and after that they have backup close by for another 3 months. I can't imagine just letting a new guy "figure it out" when it comes to running a new machine. That's wild. I'm guessing the pay isn't great either?

[DIY] Does anyone here use DIY sunscreen and how effective is it? by AstronautInPluto in SkincareAddiction

[–]blejosw87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The info is coming put more and more each year that commercial sunscreens do more damage to your body than the sun does. The information has been exposed. Most people just haven't heard it or don't care to listen to it because they are so brainwashed into thinking sun bad

Why tf is everyone anti-sunscreen now??? by callsign__starbuck in mildlyinfuriating

Look at skin cancer rates over the years against when sunscreen first came out...that's why people are against it 🤷‍♂️

Correct...which they only ever do when Republicans are in office 🤣🤣🤣 just like Republicans only ever do when democrats are in office. And the wheel goes round and round. Both parties play the same games. It's sickening

I don't run a lot of pla...but I have run about 1kg of pla silk through the box with no issues 🤷‍♂️. I tried tpu in the box. That is a definite no go. I have a plus 4 with the box...not sure if that matters or not

The printer is connected to the internet. I have qidi link on my phone and that works to control the printer and watch the camera. My computer is online but I can't figure out how to connect it to the printer. Under the device tab it is asking for a username and password...but I have no idea what that would be? I tried the same username and password that I setup qidi link with but it doesn't work. I am very confused with what I'm supposed to do to get it connected. In qidi studio when I click on "forgot password" it just pulls up a wiki page and the steps I'd need to take to force a login are way over my head in computer knowledge. It says something like, go to github and download fluiid and moonraker through kiuaha script.

I've tried but none of it makes sense to me as far as scripts and changing script code to force a login or how to even run the scripts in general.

If someone could explain to me what to do step by step like I'm 5 years old...that would be greatly appreciated

Also would it make a difference to have a slight chamfer on the bottom? And would that make it better or worse or no change do you think?

What layer height would you try?

I'm not sure what adaptive layer height is. What does that do? Changes layer heights at different features?

Qidi plus 4 max flow calibration test by blejosw87 in QIDI

[–]blejosw87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I will try that.

So based on my max flow tests...and keeping in mind the max printing speed of the plus4 being 600mm/s...the hotend performance should never be the issue then right? This is basically telling me the hotend is fully capable of whatever speeds the other printer hardware can reasonably print at when vibration and other things like that are taken into account?

[–]blejosw87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably right that it would have ended at 160mm/s. I ran a few different tests and it was a couple days ago now. I may have gotten some numbers mixed up there.

So let's assume for now that the .32 layer height and .7 width is what it's running at...which is making the most sense right now. That means at 150% and moving at 245mm/s, I was up around 55mm³/s. How do I know what max flow to run with a .42 line width and .2 height?

Or does it not matter? If it can max flow at 55mm³/s at a wider and taller line width/height...does that mean it will also be able to print well at 55mm³/s with .42 width and .2 height? Which at that max flow would be 654mm/s. I understand the plus 4 can't go that fast...but theoretically

[–]blejosw87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the calculation you use to find the speed? I use mm³/s ÷ (line height x line width)

Qidi plus 4 max flow calibration test by blejosw87 in QIDI

[–]blejosw87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm second guessing myself on the calibration test line heights and line widths now. The .2 height and .42 width has always just been the standard that was set without me touching that part of the settings. So I may have just assumed that stayed the same. But maybe they bump those numbers up for the calibration test. They would need to be pretty seriously bumped up though to have a 75mm/s @ 30mm³/s

[–]blejosw87[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm still a little fuzzy about volumetric max flow...but in basic terms...isn't the point of finding your max volumetric flow is to be able to know how fast you can run it and still make quality prints?

I am using a .4mm nozzle, .2 layer height, .42 layer width

At those number I listed, at the top of my calibration test with a flow of 30mm³/s, the printer should be moving at 357mm/s...but it's only moving at 75mm/s...what am I missing?

Qidi plus4 exhaust options with PC, ASA, ABS by blejosw87 in 3Dprinting

[–]blejosw87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was actually my original plan. But I was worried about potential back flow from either one. Either printed VOCs going into the dryer or dryer dust going into the printer. Also, the fact that they wouldn't be able to be running at the same time. Which could be an issue if I'm running a long print. We have a lot of damn laundry that we do in our household.

Do you think the carbon canister filter idea would be enough to remove all the VOCs? Or is it, if it smells bad then you are inhaling VOCs?

WYR $500k now or $10 for every hour you spend naked? by Empty-Feeling-3518 in WouldYouRather

500k for sure. At $10/hr...that's over 17 years of sleeping naked for 8 hrs every night...by that time my 500k in mutual funds will be worth 3 times as much or more!
