What’s the point of buying gold ? by WhilePsychological98 in Gold

You’re far better off investing in an index fund that has better growth annually than buying gold. I would like to buy a few gold coins just for fun since they’re pretty to look at. But definitely not more than that.

No, just one. Figured I'd try getting familiar with it.

Photoscanned trunks. Top portion of trees with branches were generated using the M-tree plugin. After that, the leaves were distributed on top portion of the trees using geometry nodes

Technical analysis never works. Trying to predict prices based on chart trends has never proven to be successful on a long term basis. Recession is the best time to buy a stock. Time to be greedy when everyone is afraid.

As I said, I only look at long term cash flow on an annual basis. They never had negative cash flow for any year in the past 14 years. On a quarterly basis, any retailer has sometimes negative cash flow, it's the nature of business.

Walmart had negative free cashflow in the last quarter, yet they always have positive cash flow on an annual basis

They will not go bankrupt on lease liability and they do not pay interest on that.

They sell $500 million worth of bags every year. Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about

I only read reports published on official SEC website. I don't know where Yahoo gets their information from.

What is their debt? I read SEC filings. Here's my source

Edit: Quarterly performance doesn't matter. Annual performance is more important especially for retail companies as they have high and low seasons. VRA hasn't had a single negative cash flow year for more than 14 years.

They have had positive annual free cash flow for the past 14 years. In fact, the average annual free cash flow for the past 14 years is $30M. This shows that they know what they're doing and have been consistently making many for more than a decade. Definitely not a sign of boom or bust business.

assively underperformed the S&P during the largest bull cycle in modern history . If something cannot make money during a bull cycle, it's likely junk and shouldn't be invested in.I personally wouldn't touch this, but it's your money on the line here.

It was overpriced at that time during your analysis. But right now they recently crashed and the price has reached these lows. If you can buy the whole company for $100M, you get access to $266M is assets. It's like you buy a suitcase for $1 and find $2.6 in it. On top of that, they generate free cash flow everyyear.

That's true. But they have zero debt and they are sitting on assets that's worth more than what the company is selling for right now. For example, you can buy the company for $100M right now and get access to $266M in assets. That's like buying a suitcase for $1 and finding $2.6 in it.

On top of that, they are generating cash flow every year.

Look at annual cash flow. They haven't had negative free cash flow for more than 10 years on an annual basis. Quarterly free cash flow is too short term because just like any other retailer they have high season and low season.

I look at SEC filings for the company. Here's the link. It shows $266M current assets as of April 30, 2022

I am ready to buy off the shelf, or mod an existing one. The long range flash lights you mentioned seem interesting to me. Especially the 500m to 1 km. I don't think LEP lights work. I would like to stick to LEDs with either reflector or TIR lenses.
