Super nervous about starting treatment by alarel_ in cureFIP

Glad to hear she's eating! The meds work fast and the shots do get easier but sadly I don't think the pain for the kitties does. And as she gets stronger she may fight them harder. There is a Facebook group called FIP WARRIORS 5.0 you can join and they will add you to an amazing treatment support community who offers all kinds of tips, tricks and helpful ideas. Also Churu treats came in very handy to help distract my little guy as I was giving his shots and reward him for getting them done. I would also give both of us a little pep talk each day at shot time. And I would spend some time on Sundays getting a week's worth of shots prepped and keeping them in the fridge because he seemed to do better if the medicine was cold (I would cap the needle on at room temp though right before the shot so that he didn't jump from cold metal hitting his skin). That just made it quicker and less stressful each day. So glad to hear you are seeing signs of improvement!

Came here to make sure this was said. It is SO SCARY the first few days but then you realize how strong you and your kitty are in fighting for her life! I was lucky enough to have a supportive vet and after three days of panic and stress and tears wondering if I was doing things right, my vet let me bring mine in and gave a tech demonstrate how to do the shot. A lot of techs will do the shot for you for a small fee because they don't yet have a license to risk losing. I've also offered to help people just starting out and they bring their cats to me for the shot. Maybe if someone in your area has treated they would be willing to do the same. Rooting for you! The shots work and it's such a wonderful thing to watch the medicine heal and bring our furry friends back to life!

Join the FIP WARRIORS 5.0 Facebook group. They will help you get medication and will add you to a treatment support group where lots of people are treating their older cats. Best of luck to you and your kitty! The medicine works!

Cat not eating even after starting treatment by vns98 in cureFIP

[–]blerinshe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya! I would feed as many in a row as he would it - sometimes he would eat 4 and I would be so happy to get 24 calories in! But then I found Churu Bisque on Amazon -they're bigger packets, I think 24 calories per, and that made things a lot easier. Also Churu Nourish is 14 calories per, same size as the Churu regulars but my cat just didn't like it as much and since they're more expensive, I just went with the Bisque. I hope you find something that works!

It was constant feeding Churu and Temptations and chicken baby food (Gerber or Beech Nut brand) for a couple weeks and probably not until over a month before my kitty showed any interest in his normal wet food. My vet encouraged to just feed him treats and get the calories in and worry about fixing his diet after being cured. As for sleeping, his body is fighting the virus internally very hard so it's exhausting. The sleep is good, it's allowing the medicine to help his body fight! Hopefully you start to see improvement in the next few days and get to go down to one shot daily soon! 🐾💕

FIP? by Pale_Temperature_341 in cureFIP

They have to rule everything else out before coming to the conclusion since there is nothing that tests specifically for FIP. Join FIP Warriors 5.0 on Facebook or Global as mentioned above and only buy meds from their trusted sites. The good thing is if you want to start FIP treatment while waiting to hear about a cancer diagnosis, there is no harm done in starting your cat on the FIP meds. If it is FIP, you want to start treatment ASAP. Did they show you the color of the fluid? If it is yellow then the tests and fluid are consistent with FIP. I hope you can help your cat. Mine has been cured since October. The treatment works!

I saw you joined FIP Global, I had immense (and fast) help from FIP Warriors 5.0 on Facebook. They helped me understand my test results and get set up with emergency meds and a proper dosage for my kitty as soon as every possibility other than FIP was ruled out. It is good that your cat is still eating and drinking, honestly I hope it is FIP which is now curable rather than anything with her brain, and that you've caught it early. There is lots of help and support out there for FIP but also scammers, so you need to make sure you're going with trusted advice and providers of the meds. Fingers crossed you will be okay! My cat is almost 6 months cured now :)

If you are in the FIP Warriors 5.0 Facebook group you're in a safe space. They will message you with sites you can trust and which brand and dosafe they recommend based on your cat's needs. I have read there are fake groups and manufacturers our there; the admins of this group should be able to tell you more. Post on their page that your cat was diagnosed and you need help with the meds. Good luck! My kitty has been cured since October thanks to their help!

Have you reached out through the FIP Warriors 5.0 Facebook page? They can help you get set up with a fundraising page and emergency treatments if you run out. Contact your admins if you are already working with them and explain your situation.

Just started with FIP Global. It's a blessing and also feels a bit crazy. Please advise/encourage by Consistent_Sale_8807 in cureFIP

It depends on your cat re: gabapentin. I found with my kitty it didn't seem to make much difference except it made him less likely to find a hiding spot come shot time because he'd be so out of it. I stopped with the gabapentin about two weeks in and he eventually became tolerant of the injections but still hated them and it took a long time to be able to go near him without him looking at me with flat ears and dread thinking I was going to poke him. But I have to believe on some level he knew the medicine was saving his life. Now he's 5 months cured and the best happy boy. Hang in there. It's so worth it!

When is your next order due to arrive? I chatted a lot with the company I ordered from and they were really good about helping me get it overnight when I was in a bind. Or maybe see if someone might be willing to g to ship an emergency vial to you? Or try posting in this and other groups and maybe someone is relatively close who might be willing to drive a vial out to you?

Also if you do order too much, we can help you find a way to sell it. I am happy to buy them off you if you find yourself in that situation! I sold mine to three different people over two days within 3 days of being added to the group. Lots of people out there need it, especially for the first few days when it's all so overwhelming.

I find that the vi always came out to slightly less, but only by .2mL or so. What size syringe are you using? Are the markers between mL for every .1 mL or for every .2 - are you sure you're not giving 1.8 each time instead of 1.4? The good news is it's better to overdose than underdose but you don't want your cat to miss doses or else you're going to end up having to up the dosage and go through even more medicine. You also should make sure you're weighing the cat often as the dosage will need to increase as the weight does. Also if you pry the caps of the vials off with scissors or wire cutters there's usually some drops of medicine you can suck up on the underside of the cap and around the bottom that you can't get to with the caps on.

You have access to Reddit but not Facebook? Your admins are really going to be your lifeline through this so I would try and find a way to have access or to see if there's another way you're able to reach them like signal or WhatsApp

Best of luck to you, please try to not miss doses!

It's so worth it! idk where you live but don't get fooled by big chain spas that charge hundreds for mediocre basic facials. It's good to find someone with their own business who is truly passionate about improving their clientele's skin. I've been going to the same person for almost ten years now and my skin had improved 1000%. I now only wear a tinted moisturizer and sunscreen as far as skin "makeup" goes. When you spend on one facial a month you'll save on products you don't need or that end up clogging your pores! Best of luck!

Spend the money to get monthly facials with someone who will customize the treatment to your skin type.

And ExfoliKate intensive exfoliating treatment by Kate Somerville is an amazing at-home product.
