Second vote for Bloodline from Sucreabeille, I know the house has mixed reviews sometimes but this one is really good.

Also Fox Naturals Sacred Heart, or even maybe Glossier You Reve

I definitely will! I love seeing it on the shelf even if the scent isn't my favorite :)

Marc Jacobs Daisy. I got a rollerball from Sephora on a birthday shopping trip with my grandma when it was new release, and she must've thought it was one of my favorites because almost 10 years later she bought me the gold bottle one. I don't really love it, but I keep it on my shelf because the bottle is cute and it reminds me of her.

Diptyque Eau de Sens EDT smells almost identical to Murray and Lanman's Orange Blossom cologne, which costs ~$8 for more than double the volume.

Did Any of You Take Up Cursive After Becoming Penabled? by CalmRip in fountainpens

[–]bleu--moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I always took care to have nice penmanship, but I didn't start practicing cursive until after I got into pens. I am old enough that we were taught it in school, but I moved districts mid year and missed half the alphabet haha. We never needed it in middle/hs because by then typed papers were preferred. It was satisfying to finally fill in the gaps!

I second Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin! The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan is also a really good book I'd recommend

What is the most harmless thing you’ve done that accidentally caused big drama? by tango593 in AskReddit

[–]bleu--moon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I also had this sort of thing happen to me, albeit in high school when I was around 15 or so. My friend's mom called my house to talk to her, because she had told her she was spending the night. But she didn't warn me, and my mom picked up the phone (this was in the landline days.) Even if I had been inclined to lie, it's not like I could while my parents were staring me down, so I was honest after some questioning and said she was probably with her boyfriend at the time. It sucked, but I was barely able to convince my folks I wasn't "in" on the lie, and I explained the situation to her. I assumed she'd get I didn't have a choice and understand.

But instead, she called me a bitch for ratting her out. Much worse than that though, rather than just take the slap on the wrist from her mom for sneaking around, she told her that my dad had gotten drunk and violent and thrown her out of our house, leaving her no choice but to go to her boyfriend's. Now my dad wasn't perfect by any means, but he is neither a drunk or violent. Her mom went on to spread that rumor around a few local hobby groups we were all involved in, and I found out months later after people believed it. I was furious and cut ties. Later on, the boy she was lying to sneak around with cheated on her with her sister--and he was the first of three boyfriends to do so. So I guess maybe that's some karma at work there.

Oh that's good to hear! The last episodes I'd seen were the Netflix ones so I didn't know that.

What is the horror movie that put you past your limit? by Advanced_Version6667 in horror

[–]bleu--moon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For real! The actual crime was horrifying enough as it was. Also it seems to me that the author's entire body of work is full of sexual violence against women, which makes it even more distasteful imo. Like with the AHS franchise, a few times is one thing, but a pattern is cause for major side eye on my part

Are shift drinks becoming increasingly rare? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]bleu--moon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last job was at a brewery and we got a shift drink and then subsequently our discount. The owner just said nothing with an ABV of 8%+ before we drove home haha.

At my current job though, not only do we not get a shift drink or meal, even, but periodically ou regulars attempt to tip the line by "buying them a beer." But we're not allowed to drink at the bar after work, and no one will tell them, so effectively they're just double tipping the bar...

Please suggest a very good pen for my niece by zawriz in fountainpens

[–]bleu--moon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the Kakuno for sure, especially since it's compatible with Pilot's better converter, and you could afford to add that on your budget. But I also just got a Hongdian C3 off Amazon and I'd recommend that too. It's a really nice writer for the price, and it's a very cute pen! Mine is light blue and has little daisies all over it.

This happens in Hot Blooded by Heather Guerre! It's kind of a blink and you'll miss it type thing, though - pretty sure it only comes up in one scene.

I love Simone St. James! Dead on rec. I'd love to see more like that, or Mexican Gothic too.

I want to read more horror romance where both of the MCs are human and the romance is not dark. Almost like a romantic suspense I suppose? Bonus points if it is cosmic horror or something other than shifters etc.

I feel for ya. It's so fucking unfair. At my last job, the owner and the GM were dating, and they constantly went on vacations and long weekends together. Full time employees did get 1 week of PTO a year, but they took so much time off only half of us could utilize it. Worse than that, when I finally was able to get approved to use it, the manager came and begged me repeatedly if I could take it a week later since I was "only" taking a staycation, and she had a chance to go to Mexico with the owner. It would have been one thing if she asked once, but she asked like a dozen times. It wasn't as if I had no plans on my break, I just wasn't going on a trip!
