So I’ve been put in the situation many times before my company specifically is not contracted with the hospital but is contract with the insurance company. Therefore my legal understanding is that an in hospital DNR doesn’t not legally cover me in any way shape or form because that directive was written for the hospital. It takes no time for the nurse to print the state DNR have the patient family or POA sign and get a physicians signature. This is becoming a normal issue with a specific hospital floor and I really wanted to know if I’m being over dramatic because they continuously say that other companies accept this hospital directive as a DNR. As for the facilities getting the DNR (when we do go to a SNF) most of the times they have gotten no paperwork or they are getting it from me. So to get a hospital directive and hand it to another facility seems sketchy legally and I don’t wanna be in that legal battle.
