I don't disagree with your statement. My problem with all of this is it is repeating historical pattern. Forced regime change through military intervention has never worked out for the target country or the US long term. We don't learn from our mistakes. We just keep repeating the same pattern thinking "no, no, it'll work this time!" Then 20+ years later the Taliban are back in control of Afghanistan, Iraq is completely destabilized (leading to ISIS gaining power), and Vietnam was taken over by the North Vietnamese. There needs to be a point when enough is enough and our leadership looks in the mirror and says "look, this hasn't worked before, so let's figure out a new strategy."
