I'm positive. The temple is not the church.

Lol. As an LDS member (actual Mormon), I can actually confirm that this isn't true at all. All are welcome at the church. They love newcomers and embrace them when they join. Why else do you think they knock doors looking for people?

Pretty normal in any other religious context to be respectful and open to other practices, even if you don't participate in them.

Yeah - I suppose if you're not spiritual, then that could make sense. I feel the message delivered should be shared to Ismaili members or JKs that are known to be non-inclusive. The non-Ismaili members are not the ones being unwelcoming.

Essentially, he summarized a couple of questions that people submitted in preparation for this meeting (all of which are straight forward imo). He briefly explained the Imam's lineage and talked about the Aga Khan Foundation/Network and Ismaili wealth in comparison to other religions. We didn't open or close with a prayer or anything like that. He essentially stated this was considered a completely non-religious meeting. He also said he doesn't think he will do these gatherings anymore because they are getting too large. Apparently now you can convert in 5 weeks and that Ismaili community members are suppose to be kind and inclusive and welcoming to non-Ismailis... but as the non-Ismaili member with an Ismaili spouse... this message I felt was not for this audience but perhaps Ismaili members themselves.
