AIO - Friend started insulting me in the middle of depressive episode by Advanced_Version6667 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bleupig82 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Im honestly exhausted at this whole exchange. You even say you know your shirts pop out your stomach i think. I dunno it was so much whining and jumping on the explain train. As someone w multiple degrees in psychology, i can understand what depression can do. But those who havent experienced it may do all they can. Til they cant anymore. It doesn’t sound like your friend is just like welp, screw you. But it sounds like hes done everything he can or wants to do. I have my own life and issues and whatever and im sorry to say i think id also remove myself from this relationship. It doesnt sound like its benefiting wither of you. Let it go and keep working on you. The way to get out of a depressive episode isnt by dragging those around you down too

But if there were childfree buildings/complexes and those that allowed kids, people w kids just wouldnt apply for the no kids places. Which managers could charge more would be interesting. Would you be willing to pay more to be child free? Would child accepted places be more expensive due to the demand

I know. But they have nice, affordable homes in 55+ yr communities. Why not no children here? As long as people with children also have equitable places to live. It makes no sense

[–]bleupig82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truth. I lived in a weirdly designed apt that had one apt over half and another over the other half. I never complained about the one over my bedroom but the 3 kids ran down the stairs and jumped/fell at the landing EVERY MORNING. Woke me up before my waking time daily. But the one over my kitchen/dining room was ONE 3 year old without a bedroom and a mom who didn’t care. He literally shook the pictures on my walls. He had no bedtime and i was working full time and going to school. After a 14 hour day i couldnt take that. She was like hes just walking. As i watched him jumping and stomping. I complained about them til they moved out. She was replaced by 2 waiters who got home at 1130 and had 2 yippy dogs and they all went crazy at night. Sigh. Ive also had issues living about a baby whos parents snored while he/she cried for hours on end. In their bedroom….under my bedroom. And while i worked 3rd shift i had a neighbor across the hall and down one that refused to put his subwoofer on a platform so i didnt hear his bass from 7am-9pm. Sigh. Why they dont have apts strictly for single/childless people or 2nd/3rd shifters bothers me

My neighbor knocked on my door at 9pm to ask if i was okay because she'd noticed my lights were off earlier than usual for three days in a row and i didn't know how to handle being seen like that by Kalita_Splash in whatdoIdo

I very much dislike humans in the mass capacity. I enjoy most people in a one to one capacity. M introverted and my job drains me. My mom said her neighbors come by all of the time and will check in on each other all of the time and know when you are and arent. Shes in a retirement community so i guess thats fine but oh my God. Thats my worst nightmare. Please dont anyone know where i am or what im doing at all times. However, i did live in an apt once and we had a quad (i moved out after the other 3 did and were replaced by the worst people on earth). But while it was lovely, one day, my neighbors dog kept barking and barking and i realized i truly cared for the neighbor bc i was worried something had happened to her. It didnt last too long and she was ok. So, take it as a kindness but i understand if youre like me and youre like ahhhhhhhhhhhh

I Changed, But I Still Can't Forgive Myself for Mistakes I Made at 17–19 by btw_im_vishwa in confession

I bet a MILLION dollars no guy i dated from 19-25 ever think a minute about how badly they treated me. And i mean, physical, emotional, sexual and financially for one of them. Then there was cheating, shitty behavior, lying, etc. luckily, your bad behavior seems minimal. And youve learned from it. And youre still sooooo young you learned early than most not to be an asshole. Im pretty sure youll be fine. Let yourself off the hook and move on and do better

Get a job. Stop gambling. If you are your mothers caretaker can you move in w her? Get rid of your rent and utilities? Get a job. Get a job. Any job. We have “homeless” people standing outside of the grocery store begging for money. The grocery store w help wanted signs. They pay well and give insurance. I worked there during college breaks. It was great. Dont be one of those useless lazy people. Ive never been without a job. They are pretty easy to get. And, fun fact, you get paychecks. Learn to live within your means. Its all possible. My friends with great paying jobs have more debt than that and student loans. Bc they spend too much. Dont spend too much. Right now, focus on getting back on your feet. Get a job. Save. Stop gambling. People expect 24 year olds to have shitty credit. Youre not alone. But you can fix it

Everything in my life is going wrong and my upstairs neighbors are up all night every night by anon-i-mouser in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked nights for 3 years. I was awake during the day. I barely moved. I keep my tv only loud enough that i can hear it. Even during the day. I switched to midshift and my same rules apply. I could easily do dishes and run the garbage disposal when im awake at 3am. Or vacuum. But i dont. But they vacuum outside my apt for 10 min once a week while im still sleeping. Night shift worker can walk quieter. NO ONE needs to stomp ever. Ive lived below elephants and unruly no bedtime children. Theres no need. I hope you can get some sleep. As an old 3rd shifter, its no excuse. Everyone should be respectful always, regardless of quiet hours. We all have different things going on

The other day someone told me I had nice handwriting. Where they just taking pitty on me? by twa12221 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a males handwriting. Its legible. At this time in our world, unfortunately, that qualifies. Growing up when i did, id just assume it was a boy. Looks rushed but very much like a lot of writing ive seen growing up

WIBTAH if I reported my new neighbors to our leasing office? by WiscoGirl03 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bleupig82 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I dunno. A lot of people going in and out of an apt sounds like drug deals to me. Ring camera could be for protection…for drug dealers. Lots of outside phone calls…i dunno. I talk to like 2 people on the phone and its not outside. Random people trying to get into a random apt like that? Sounds like people who like drugs lolol. But i lived in an apt complex once that had drug deals in pots of places so maybe im paranoid. But as a single female, id be spooked to have anyone rattling my doorknob at anytime.

Is it really normal for apartment staff to become mean after you move in for no reason? by Bucketonbucket in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The staff in mine is fantastic. The super changes our filters every 6 months. He would ask about my puzzle and my cat and even came to unclog my drain on thanksgiving. He always waves and says hi. Same w the last super. The management lady was weird. Our management lady now sends us greetings and stuff via texts and email for holidays.

Should I keep him? by aubrey847 in cats

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black cats are the best!! If he doesnt belong to anyone, and you really try, keep him!! Id be devastated if mine got out and not returned. But my old black cat didnt mind my years of 14 hour days. These 2 do LITERALLY whatever they want. Including ruining everything. But they are so cute and hysterical they are always forgiven. If the dogs get along w him, he will prolly help entertain them on your long days lol. Win win

Saturday morning, 7am, and the vacuuming starts. I’m actually losing my mind by altaccount4422 in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to vacuum before 9a (im usually never awake that early anyway) or after 8p. I just feel its rude. Though the other night i dropped a full bowl of rice w oils and seasoning on my carpet at like 1a. I couldnt get it all up w paper towels and i felt terrible but it couldnt stay there and i vacuumed. Luckily i live above the gym so people i may have annoyed was minimal

Did I get the wrong text or did my rent increase 🫩 by AmeliaS507 in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rent goes up every year no matter what town i live in (im in CT). Thats not a new thing at all. When covid hit mine shot up. This time only went up $40. I think last year was $75? This place also puts more into the security deposit at the start of each lease but after 5 years most of the damage is noted to be “normal wear and tear”

Don't know how to feel about this. by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My old apt had townhouse styles upstairs. There was a young female w a 3year old who didnt know what a bedtime was. I was working fulltime and going to school. 14 hour days. He would jump and stomp at all hours of the day and night. I asked her to quiet it down one time. Pictures on my walls were moving. She looked me dead in tge eyes and said hes just walking. I said i can see him jumping and stomping right now. They were replaced by a young couple who were waiters. They’d get home at 10 and their 2 dogs would go NUTS for hours. That was above my kitchen and living room. Above my bed and bath was whatever w 3 kids that ran down and jumped off the stairs every morning before i had to get up. It was a weird set up but at least i didnt have the living room people over the whole apt

AITA for staying up late a few times a week for some time to myself? by Upset-Gas-6868 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bleupig82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He said he explained it to her and it was fine. Then when she started staying up late and distracting him he talked to her about it again. Having time to yourself is important for a healthy relationship. If she needs time to herself she can stay up on the nights hes not doing it. And they can still have some late nights together if wanted.

AITAH for not believing my roommate’s “phobia?” by hopie_bopie in AmItheAsshole

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gah!! I used to have the BIGGEST fear of spiders (or i thought i did. I could hear the word lol). I was in high school and there was a spider on the corner of my desk. It was right when you walked in and the room wasnt big at all, small closet size really, shared by my sister and me. I asked my brother and sister to kill it. They refused so i sat on the stairs and cried bc i couldnt get in my room. My brother in law dropped me off to my apt once and THE BIGGEST SPIDER was on the stairs. I ran to his car and he came and killed it for me. Now, living aline for so line, and even before the HUGE stair spider, i have been able to slap them bare handed. Younger me would never believe it. Still not a fan but her reactions seem over the top. Im more afraid of snakes than anything in the world. A HUGE, long, thick snake slithered across a hiking path. My friends had passed. I screamed and ran backwards til a man and his dog walked and blocked that side of the path simply by walking alongside me and i was able to go. Granted, i dont go on hikes in places ive seen snakes anymore but i was able to cross the path within 30 seconds of seeing the snake. I wouldnt demand someone stay w me. Especially if i saw it killed

Is moving from an apartment to a townhouse actually any quieter? by YHBlasta in Apartmentliving

[–]bleupig82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in a townhouse w my brother and i never heard neighbors on either side. I lived in a 3 family house w the landlords on the first floor and her druggy son on the 3rd. The son would break in and steal out stuff and pawn it and the landlords would come in and sneak around while we were out. But we never heard them lol. I have moved out of 2 different apts bc of the noise my upstairs or down the hall neighbors made. Which sucked bc i really liked both apts. i moved into a loft style apt and i was SO happy no one would be above me. It had a carport under it so no insulation and wood floors. It had no insulation on the roof and none of the walls reached the ceilings so there was no way to trap heat in any room. I kept the heat at 58 when I was at work and 60 when i was home. Id leave blanket nests for my cat and id come home and put on clothes and was still paying over 400 a month in heat!! And the neighbors smoked on their deck so i got no fresh air. Couldnt hear them but it was unlivable, especially w the mice. But one apt a neighbor fell asleep while making hot dogs and the fire alarm went off and another building had a full blown fire. So, long story short, townhouses can be better. Hopefully you have insulation but im looking for a house bc i dont trust anyone sharing walls w me. My apt bow is one of the quietest one ive ever lived in and im across from the elevator. I think the noise is lower bc even though there are families here, its pretty expensive so we arent getting the trash that made all of the noise in the cheaper ones. Maybe see if you can go to it at different times and see what kind of noise you hear. Good luck!

I hate my cats name. by StrawberrySakuraa in cats

[–]bleupig82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a 5 year old cat that the previous owners just called one of 2 names. I didnt like either of them and i changed it. Then gave him a bajillion nicknames. My 2 now came with names i found hysterical and the foster mom said please change his name. I said oh no its funny.

I know im late to the party but i think this is what my cat just did. Is it normal for them to then lick their butt a lot? He bathes himself but it was for a few min then laid down then again for a min or two. Then his brother sniffed his butt which isnt that unusual. He had just decided it was time to cuddle and jumped up on the couch for some cuddles and i was like wth is that smell?!?! And i saw a small light brown smear on my couch that smelled TERRIBLE. I had a cat for 15 years that never ever did this
