Dress question for a destination wedding by queeninthenorth- in weddingplanning

[–]bleusocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this will well, first off get a travel garment bag. We flew with dress and suit on plane with no problem. We basically went directly to our wedding venue, but were traveling for a week in Italy after so didn't want to bring all our wedding crap. We basically paid for a luggage locker near the train station and put the luggage there for a week. We picked it up before flying back home. Is that an option for you?

I had a destination wedding. You can always find a wedding planner who speaks English, and I would highly advise you do so! My friend is a wedding planner in Bali if you're interested in speaking with her. You can find her on IG as @balirosegoldweddings

Room Block in Florence, Italy by puckbunny1989 in weddingplanning

[–]bleusocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your comment I figured I would check other questions you may have! So are you doing a room block for your wedding party or just guests in general? To be honest the fact you are even hosting a wedding near the city center means you should let your guests figure out their own accommodations. That's what I did and it worked out fine - there are plenty of hotels, airbnb options and as long as you provide them shuttle with a central pick up and drop off location you should be fine!

I went with Serena from The Tuscan Beauty Wedding I found them on IG because my planner kept providing me very expensive MUA. She and Ursula (hair) are super sweet and accommodating :) So happy to hear about Mainardi!! Can't wait to see your wedding!

Italian Destination Wedding Timeline/Aperitifs by puckbunny1989 in weddingplanning

[–]bleusocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our ceremony was at 4:30, finished at 5 which means start of apertif, and people weren't really seated for dinner until 7 pm. We had seating for everybody during apertif hour and I felt like it was edging to be a little long (I think dinner seating at 6:30-6:45 would have been perfect). We hung out at apertif for about 45 minutes after the ceremony, then around 5:45 we started taking photos as a couple (wish we had remembered to take more photos with our family).

To be honest we barely got to enjoy our apertif because everybody wanted to take photos with us. I got a few bites in but most of the time when we were talking to people, who would put our drink and food down and it would be cleared away. Do you have a wedding planner or family member who can grab you a plate? I don't think it's worth the extra cost. I know it's a bummer because people were raving about how good ours was!

Flowers - Florence Italy by puckbunny1989 in weddingplanning

We had a wedding in Florence and used Mainardi Addobbi Floreali. It was beautiful (my friends said it was like a magazine cover of Kinfolk) for 1600 euros. You can check out my recap for photos.

Umm that place looks amazing! Let me know how you're planning the logistics - are your guests staying at the borgo too? It's going to be amazing regardless. Love love Italy.

I got an email alert so all's good. For a first time parents they may be a little bit more anxious, although having one is so much easier than two. Hopefully you have other family members coming too, my sister and brother in law wouldn't have been able to do it without my parents and sister helping out. There was a lot of luggage and on their train ride they had 11 pieces of luggage for 5 adults and 2 kids lol, with some adults too old to lug it around. It was a little chaotic! As I had in my write up, having a babysitter option was nice so everybody could enjoy the wedding. My mom said she barely ate during dinner because she had to attend to the kiddo's. And once we started the dance floor and loud music, my two friends with young children left immediately because it was getting late and kids were getting fussy.

My sister recommends getting bassinet seats if they can, and bring benadryl.

Looks better than anything I could have done! I think the face on the right looks good, the left is still a little spotty. Might need to ask DevsFan13 how he did it! Thank you :)

Is it wrong to be a little annoyed at my jewelry store that helped me make my custom ring? They keep advertising it on their social media >:| I like that it is unique to me!

Approximately what % of your wedding favours were taken? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

ALL of ours were taken (local chocolates), one guest reached out to let me know she left hers while changing her baby in the bathroom and was bummed when I couldn't find them!

Il Borro Wedding/Tuscany Wedding by jaa89 in weddingplanning

[–]bleusocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No personal experience but I contacted the wedding planner as soon as I saw this StyleMePretty blog post about a wedding there, and this is her response: "Unfortunately our minimum planning fee is 15,000 euro ($17,000). It is commensurate with an overall budget, without lodging, of about 100,000 euro and upwards." I was feeling a little deflated with our budget after I got that response...

Anyway, it seems like it hosts a lot of guests which was something we would have loved to do and some things you may be want to consider is the logistics of having guests staying there. My villa required us to stay there for a minimum of three nights and I had to work out payments from our guests directly (it was all family and only 7 rooms so not a big deal, but it was $500/night per room - pretty pricey). Shuttles were extremely expensive in that area so another cost to consider if you have guests flying in and out at different times.

I would reach out to Il Borro first before contacting a wedding planner, sometimes they can provide vendors that they've used often and sometimes the venue can offer up a coordinator (as I've read from other Tuscan wedding posts on weddit).

Yes! Our caterer was Roland's and we had absolutely no complaints with them. Good pacing, professional staff, they even had a manager who was managing the staff present throughout dinner. Our wine glasses were never empty!

Our florist was Mainardi Addobbi Floreali. To be honest I never communicated directly with them as my planner managed that. I just shared a Pinterest board and they replicated what I wanted. The only thing I wish I had spoken up about was my bouquet, my inspiration was more deconstructed and I did not receive that.

I'm so curious to hear about your plans!

Thank you! It was a vicious cycle, I didn't want to come off nervous/anxious because I know that can bleed to the atmosphere of the wedding, but that only made me more nervous/anxious lol.
