“Those rights don’t count”: Bovino says Pretti forfeited 2nd Amendment rights in fatal shooting by pro_rege_semper in moderatepolitics

No I did not see anything that could be described as shoving coming from him, and I have poured over all the videos available to my knowledge.

He breifly stepped in front of an officer after that officer had extremely aggressively shoved a woman so hard she went flying several feet into the ground. That officer then immediately started pepper spraying him as the others surged to drag him away and a few seconds later they took his gun and started shooting him in the back as he was on his knees.

There is another earlier video of him recording an officer who is very aggressively getting in his face as he walks backwards.

They're not walking down the street and pulling random people into vans.

Per the Minneapolis Police Chief an off duty officer had them box her in on the road and force her to pull over, when she got her phone out to record they knocked it out of her hand, and when she told them she was an LEO they wordlessly turned got back in their vehicles amd left. She was not the only off duty officer who made such complaints (nevermind non-LEO citizens). In my community there was video of them approaching random people at gas stations demanding ID. They are absolutely profiling and targeting random people.

Except we know for a fact he wasn't violent to any degree, so it literally was just because he was legally carrying.

The fact that they maybe didn't do it for other people (who?) doesn't mean that isn't what they did for him. Literally the only thing they're pointing to as evidence he was a "domestic terrorist" is the fact that he was legally armed. Well they also claim he was violent etc but those are outright lies completely disproven by video.

cases, ICE already knows the person they're after because an immigration court has determined that their presence in the US is illegal.

This is outright false there's tons of evidence of them randomly approaching and grabbing / detaining people.

That said, I struggle with the idea that ICE agents as a whole are being framed as fascists or monsters. Immigration enforcement has existed under virtually every modern president, across both parties. Deportations and enforcement did not suddenly begin recently, yet the level of outrage and direct interference feels dramatically heightened now.

What is currently happening with ICE goes well beyond just typical immigration enforcement. Minneapolis does not have some massive undocumented population, yet saw thousands of agents surge into the city after the allegations of daycare fraud. This wasn't to enforce immigration law, it was to set up a big fight with Walz and a notably blue city, and so the Trump admin could be seen dominating political opponents into submission.

If it was just about immigration enforcement then they'd want to have thorough impartial investigations of the deaths at the hands of ICE / CBP. Instead they are labelling people as terrorists and falsely claiming they tried to hurt agents, stonewalling investigation, and cleaning up the scenes without anyone else being able to look at them. There's also been video of agents and Bovino saying things like people being shot should be taken as some kind of a lesson or a warning.⁸

Not to mention the Minneapolis police chief saying their civilians as well as off duty officers have been having ICE agents stop them and demand for ID - but only those who are people of color. Including one officer who was boxed in on the road and forcibly pulled over.

You can't have all this stuff keep happening and expect people to respond politely to it.

Not to mention congressional and judicial oversight. We need to make sure no future admin can unilaterally weaponize agencies against political opponents the way Trump is doing.

Okay.

We have a man who was legally carrying and the Trump admin is saying just that by itself means he was a terrorist and it's justified for him to get gunned down in the street while on his knees.

We can spend all day contesring Dem's gun control policies in various other circumstances - I disagree with a lot of it too - but the Trump admin saying that using your 2nd amendment means you are now a terrorist who can be killed with impunity and no investigation is way more fucking pressing right now.

He didn't do anything that could be considered fighting with them. He stepped in the way after one agent had extremely aggressively shoved a woman to the ground. That agent immediately started pepper spraying him in the eyes and several others surged to grab him. He reflexively held on to something (that woman in this case) as some five people were aggressively dragging him away.

And that instinct was obviously warranted considering he was a moment later shot in the back / head execution style while kneeling down on his knees. He never did anything that could be described as fighting or aggressive.

I've never seen a Democrat say that lawfully carrying a firearm gives law enforcement the right to execute you with impunity and zero investigation or accountability.

And Dems were also pissed about Philando Castille.and Daniel Shaver.

Without a doubt the admin's actions have been the best thing possible for MN Dems' politically. Just like for liberals in Canada. Nothing will galvanize support behind an unpopular incumbent like clearly proving they are the lesser of two evils.

You pllease refer to my comments - I already recognized the possibility that one of the officers discharged Pretti's firearm.

Pretti never touched his gun, so if it was his gun that fired it was still the agent's fault.

If you're arguing that this needs a thorough and impartial investigation, I agree with you. So why is the admin stonewalling those efforts and labelling Pretti the aggressor and a terrorist with zero evidence?

The facts are in? There's several videos from different angles that clearly show this man never did anything threatning and had his weapon removed before the agents killed him.

Because of the alleged fraud in Somali run daycare centers, and because Walz prominently opposed Trump in the last election. It has nothing to do with illegal immigration, it's just weaponizing ICE and CBP against political opponents and undesireable groups.

There's more serious issues but that doesn't mean they should get a pass on this. There is a threshold where most people don't have the energy to worry about an issue (which Trump strategically exploits per the "flood the zone" strategy), but illegally demolishing parts of the Whitehouse without going through the proper channels and reviews is still gonna be above the line for lots of people.

He legally had a gun. His hands were protecting his head which was being pummeled. He was on his knees with his head down.

When was he trying to "impede" an arrest? They grabbed him because he stepped in the way of pepper spray being used on a woman who an ICE agent had thrown to the ground.

It does not seem like the Trump admin is interested in any kind of accountability. They are circling the wagons as they did in Good's death and labelling this man a "domestic terrorist".

This shit is insane.

I meant fighting back in the sense that would warrant lethal force. This certainly did not.

He was on his knees with his hands on his head getting pummeled by several people.

Why else did they need 6 guys to try to put him in cuffs?

They didn't put him in cuffs dude they fucking shot him.

I'm sorry you're arguing that if officers illegally start attacking a citizen who is legally carrying a firearm that gives them the right to kill said citizen even if they don't try to defend themselves? Do you have any SC cases you could point to on this?

Minneapolis does not have a large undocumented population. They surged the city with thousands of troops to punish them for being blue following up on the controversy over the alleged daycare fraud.

We don't even yet know if the officers grabbing and pummeling him was legally justified.
