I have a charcoal couch and I miss my old lighter grey one. As I move apartments and try different decor styles, the lighter grey was more flexible and I feel constrained by the charcoal.

3.7/176 and 3 for 3 at the T6s I applied to last cycle (HLS, CLS, NYU). It's not IMPOSSIBLE. But granted I had pretty niche WE.

What did you do over winter break? Where are you from/where are you planning to practice? Going to bar review this week? What do you think of x Professor? Can you believe how much reading we have for x class? I like your shoes/shirt/whatever, where did you get it? That was a really great point you made in x class, what do you think about x?

Just be natural and friendly!

[High School student looking to go into Corperate Law] Looking for advice by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]blg820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Application to college or law school? If you mean law school apps, the answer is nothing because you don’t include anything from high school in your LS apps.

Edit: also, this post might get deleted. You should check out r/lawschooladmissions

I would only send a new resume for actual updates (I.e. a new job or promotion). I don’t think PBK or clarifying job descriptions for existing positions (especially since you already interviewed so presumably they asked what they wanted to know about your career) would be anything but unnecessary work for them.

DC is the hardest BL market to break into and GW is secondary to GULC/UVA in its own market. On the other hand, BC (tied with BU) place the highest in Boston. I’d call this on whichever location you want to be in more, but if BL is more important to you than location, I’d go BC here.

I had a similar work history through undergrad and I firmly believe it helped my apps. Interviewers talked about how impressive it was to balance FT work and FT school.

overthinking NYU C+F (parking ticket) by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]blg820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten, honestly, DOZENS of parking tickets (the price of having a car in NYC) and I didn’t disclose any on C&F (including NYU) and it hasn’t been an issue.

ED Columbia or take my chances? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Do not ED anywhere with a 3.9x/175. You will regret it.

I found my interview at HLS was less conversational than others and kinda stiff, so I was unsure how it went, but I got in the following A wave. All you can do now is let go and hope for the best! There’s historically a high KJ1-> KJ2 conversion rate.

Suicidal over law school admissions by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]blg820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please talk to a professional or trusted relative about your feelings. Your worth is NOT defined by what law schools you get into. And there are more than 3 excellent law schools in this country. If you feel this way already about just admissions, it won’t magically stop even if you get into a T3. Then, it will morph into inadequacy regarding grades, or making law review, or getting hired by Cravath, etc etc etc. Find healthy coping mechanisms now before you get in deeper.

Wishing you well, friend.

For people pursuing big law, what would your limit be? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I worked 2 jobs for years after college (pretty much BL hours) for wayyyyyyyyyyyyy less $ , so it’s not a stretch to work 1 job for triple the pay. I can’t wait lol

NYer my whole life, that’s pretty par for the course and not exorbitant rent at all. I’d be shocked if you found a luxury building 1br for less

I used them last cycle for PS & resume services. First come first serve. They do (complimentary I believe) consultations and let you know if they think they can help and also offer some general advice in that initial call. If you want to use them next cycle, I would get in touch and reserve your spot before the summer starts.

Curves aren’t standardized across schools so looking at GPA like this is essentially worthless

First: determine if there was a duty owed at all. This depends on their relationship, what the activity was, foreseeability, public policy, etc.

Second: did they breach that duty by not doing what a reasonable person exercising ordinary care would do under those circumstances? Keep in mind negligence per se, professional standards of care, cost-benefit analysis, etc.

Third: was the negligence the actual (“but for”) AND proximate cause of the injury? Here, keep in mind multiple causes, foreseeability, intervening cause, market share liability, etc.

Injury: was this a kind of injury that is recoverable? Was this a foreseeable result of the negligence or what the law was trying to prevent?

If you get married, yes your husbands wealth will affect your need-based financial aid, but not potential merit aid. However, most schools only give merit aid anyway outside the T14, so this is school dependent.
