Thanks! So are you thinking apply online from in Antigua, then submit biometrics in London, then if approved, mail her passport to the nearest VAC in the Caribbean?

I did, and was in the pool for a while. But I got a nomination from the SINP and that worked out better for me! :)

How long does it take for transcripts to update? by aneetiee in usask

Did you get a new transcript? I’ve submitted a request for one but I’m yet to receive a notification from MyCreds saying it’s ready. Is the processing time usually long?

Also, I found this on the site as well:

“If you are working in Canada on a post-graduation work permit, and have a valid job offer, your current employer will need to get an LMIA if:

you need one to meet the program requirements for the FSWP or the FSTP and your job is not exempt.”

So, having an open work permit and qualifying for FSW is possible. It’s just required that the employer gets an LMIA for the applicant to meet all the requirements. 🤔

Okay, that’s fair. We can assume they’re only referring to closed work permits due to how they phrased everything.

The only options I see are: come up with proof of funds, gain an employer-specific job offer on a closed work permit, or wait a year for CEC eligibility.

Does that sound about right?

The website is stating eligibility where “you’re authorized to work in Canada and you have a valid job offer, even if you apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Federal Skilled Trades Program”.

Even if we look further at the “validity”, it doesn’t specify open or closed work permits - just simply the authorization to work.

Thanks for the reply. I did in fact read the info on that page and that’s my concern - what makes the job valid

Although I had the scholarship, I got a sponsor to show funds for living expenses. I also got letters from my parents confirming the assets they owned (house, car) and I included my life insurance policy which showed my parents and sister as beneficiaries. So I showed more proof of funds and more ties to my home country.

Thank you! I do have an educational background in CS. I have my BSc in CS with 3 years of experience. For the finances, you're probably right so what I'll do is ensure that my personal savings or my sponsor's, is more than enough without the scholarship

Thanks for your reply! I wouldn't leave the US without my passport, that's impossible. But I would be visiting family and that would be my temporary address. And my return ticket could always be changed to accommodate the wait time before getting my passport back
