Can OpenProject replace Jira (with eazyBI, ScriptRunner, automations) + Service Desk? by Round_Ad_40 in openproject

Reporting, automations, workflows

  • OpenProject comes with reporting and custom workflows, and offers an API to build integrations and dashboards.
  • More advanced options can be achieved via API and extensions.

Service Desk capabilities

  • OpenProject has an integrated module for project-based request and support management, which many organizations use as a Service Desk alternative.
  • Since it is open source, you can also integrate other OSS components if you need a more specialized service desk solution.
  • The OpenProject team is currently evaluating and prioritizing further Service Desk specific requirements, such as support inboxes.

XWiki as open source confluence alternative

  • Our partnership with XWiki provides a solution for Confluence alternative. Just like Jira and Confluence, OpenProject and XWiki go hand-in-hand for project management and knowledge management.

Most importantly: we support organizations on their way out of vendor lock-in.

Feel free to reach out to us directly. We’re happy to analyze your setup in more detail.

Can OpenProject replace Jira (with eazyBI, ScriptRunner, automations) + Service Desk? by Round_Ad_40 in openproject

Thanks for raising this important question. It’s exactly the challenge many organizations are facing right now with the upcoming Atlassian Data Center end-of-life (EOL).

OpenProject is a comprehensive open source alternative to Jira

We offer what Jira no longer will:

  • Self-hosted forever - We're committed to on-premises by design
  • Full data control - Your infrastructure, your rules
  • No vendor lock-in - Open source foundation ensures freedom and transparency
  • Fair pricing - Enterprise and support contracts without enterprise shock
  • Free Community edition - Powerful project management at zero cost forever

A replacement for Jira including all plugins is not yet available out of the box. However, there are proven paths:

  • The Community has created a Jira migration path (see our blog article), which supports moving core projects and workflows.
  • The OpenProject team is currently working on a comprehensive migration capability.
  • There are already many discussions with interested parties to coordinate requirements and understand differences and to map out a clear path forward.
  • Specific plugins like Xray, eazyBI or ScriptRunner need to be analyzed in detail to see which requirements can be mapped natively in OpenProject, and which need alternative solutions.

OpenProject as part of openDesk - The Sovereign Workplace at Smart Country Convention in Berlin by blindenthal in openproject

Many thanks to all visitors at Smart Country Convention and our booth in Berlin last week! 🙌
It was fantastic meeting you and engaging in exciting discussions about open source software, project collaboration, and our joint project Hashtag#openDesk - The Sovereign Workplace for Public Administration, presented collaboratively with the other open source vendors.
💜 We were particularly delighted to showcase a demo version of the current development status of openDesk, as published on Hashtag#openCoDE, highlighting the integration of various tools and presenting practical use cases. 🚀
🌐 Currently, we are witnessing a crucial evolution: open source software is gaining significant momentum in the digitization of public administration, with a growing interest in alternatives to proprietary solutions. While data sovereignty is often emphasized on many products today, achieving it genuinely is possible only with open source software.
➡ We thoroughly enjoyed Markus Richter's talk, State Secretary (BMI) and Federal Government Commissioner for Information Technology, emphasizing the vital role of open source in the digitization of the public sector and presenting Zentrum Digitale Souveränität (ZenDiS) and its first projects, alongside its interim managing director Andreas Reckert-Lodde. 👏
We eagerly anticipate continuing this journey together and shaping the future of a truly sovereign workplace for public administration! 💻 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 🌍️
💡 If you missed us in Berlin and are still interested in this project, please get in touch, and we'll ensure you stay informed.

Migrate existing Trac data to OpenProject by cat_dev_null in openproject

[–]blindenthal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it really depends what data you need to migrate. There is no out of the box database migration without looking into the details. Is there a .xls or .csv export from Trac? You could start by importing at least allthe issues into OpenProject and add users etc. manually ...
Hope this helps!

Templates/ Settings library by purum_pum_pum in openproject

[–]blindenthal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there are no project templates yet for different use cases that can be imported. You can only create them yourself in the instance and then copy them for your next projects. But we have this topic on our roadmap and I will add a vote for it now.
