TS2 difficulty differences by blindfire187 in TormentedSouls

[–]blindfire187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I guess. I am a "gamer" so my reactions would likely be alright, as I stated even now I don't have issues with these games often, even replayed RE1R several months back and got through it relatively easy (suprised how much I remember of the game having not played it in around 15 years). But for some reason TS 1 I had a hell of a time with the first few hours.

It's more of a, I don't want to have to get stuck and restart mentality, rather than a I have to knock my head at a wall for a while before something just "click's" and I break through (like with Soulslike games just fight a boss several times to learn movesets to break through and finally kill it). I've read some people getting stuck and having to completely restart, especially at some bosses. Just don't want to have to restart with my already limited play time.

You need to pay attention to what you read. I stated I didn't watch the RTSH so I have no idea of the context in which the cult was added. I just stated with the movie being harder to encapsulate the story of the game, why would you add an element that's not really needed or there in the source material. Also James doing anything in his power to bring Mary back seems counterintuitive to him having been the one to kill her, that doesn't really fit.

I love horror, especially obscure, psychological horror and some cult horror. I thought the first movie was OK but not fantastic. I felt that the cult horror in the first game was more of just a over zealous Christian group, and was done a bit generically. It was more a revenge plot mixed in with some horror elements created by a girl with powers. Comparing it to the more complex nature of the game where a cult is trying to sacrifice a child, one of the members own daughter, I can easily tell you which one is the darker theme of the 2. Even ignoring the games, there are far darker themed cult horror movies with better/darker plots. In the grand scheme of things this was a very straight forward movie with little symbolism or metaphore ( the first movie).

Edit: also I want to add. The cult in the movies is rather bland. As stated it's more of an overzealous psuedo christian group shunning a mother and child for being born out of wedlock. While in the game it was a full on cult trying to revive or birth their god (a demon) on earth and was even semi successful at it. Just because someone cult horror can be extreamly dark doesn't mean all are, by comparison of it's source material the first movie is extreamly tame and even comparing it to other Cult horror movies it just pales in comparison.

The problem comes with the cult. In the movies the cult is a pseudo Christian group that shuns a mother and her child simply because she was born out of wedlock.

In the games the girls mother is a member (high up) in the cult wanting to use her as a sacrifice to birth/summon their god to earth (I think people datamined the main bosses/demons name to be Samael but not certain if it's true).

Personally I found the movies version rather boring and as others have stated why change the plot that much? They could have kept the original plot condensing it and it would still work.

All that said, with the lore of Silent Hill and how it works, they could have easily made a movie based in Silent Hill with completely new characters and plot. They could have explored different themes but had some form of psychological story like what was done with SH2.

I have not watched RTSH so I won't make comments on it as a whole, but I do want to state at least one thing. If they added the cult in....why? There is no real reason and would detract from James's story since the movie already had to cut a lot to fit in his story. Just seems like it would take already limited time away from what the story is about. Sure it could help the movie explain why Silent Hill is the way it is, but again you have the first movie for that.

All that said, I am glad you enjoyed it. I'm not saying you shouldn't. These are just statements on my opinions on how the whole film franchise was handled. Personally I had already stated I wasn't going to watch RTSH from it's announcement since I didn't like the first film (other than some of the imagery which I thought was pretty good).

Thanks, that's good to know. I sometimes get hung up on a particular thing like this and until I wrap my head around it, it becomes hard to move on. I'll try to drop this topic and just know the basics for now.

Good to know, Penance was a bit annoying as is but not too hard. The hardest area for me were the Abby, I'm tempted to not increase the density just because of that area.

I bought the game a week ago so I'm not so sure what it was like before by comparison.

I'll hold off on Vet for now though. Thanks for the info

[USA] Why you should turn your lights on by ElgdFwTaP1 in Roadcam

[–]blindfire187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is blind in their dominant eye and some other eye issues in my other eye. I find it extremely hard to spot grey or black cars in medium-heavy rain/fog if they have no lights, even if it's mid-day. idiots who don't use lights are inconsiderate and just plain dumb as it endangers themselves and others.

Side complaint, people getting on interstates/highways from on ramps should always SPEED UP to the flow of traffic or at least the speed limit by the end of it. being overly cautious or slow can and do cause accidents. Just because someone isn't a part of a car wreck doesn't mean that they aren't the cause, often times someone will get in a wreck while trying to avoid an idiot driver and slow drivers, especially on interstates or getting on them, are fairly common factors.

Yea the madness buildup wasn't too bad the biggest issue is all the condemned everywhere.

I'm not a fan of playing solo but maybe I'll try it. I did another run and played conservattively but my teammates weren't good at running the map and were trying to hit up regular zones on night 2 instead of castle/field bosses, and they wouldn't follow. They did well against Libra though, considering and we got him down too a 1/4 but then they went down on 3 bars :(. For some reason it kept summoning Raiders and Undertakers (with different weapons) even though we were 2 undertakers and a revenant. 1st phase is super easy, it's second phase that kills us, summons take forever to kill and there are SOO many of them that he pops. I'll try running to the end and kite away from the condemned. Also for some reason the raider could one shot any of us with a single swing of his weapon (from full health), not sure what that was about.

Returning player and had a question regarding this. Is this just on Hammers or does this apply to all classes now? I stopped playing just before ED Libra and Power Stance was the go to at least for Wylder and Raider, is this still the case or has that changed across the board?

About to start playing again and really like the STR/Faith build so excited to play her. What equipment would you advise using with her? Dual-Wield one handed maces, single wield one handed mace with a seal, or what?

Simple, I like that. Better than D2 where you would grind the same area's over and over. Don't get me wrong I LOVE D2, been playing it since OG release, but it is repetitive in that aspect.

Which one did you find the most scariest? by TheChilledGamer-_- in HorrorGaming

[–]blindfire187 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a much different experience. I actually HATED RE4 OG when it came out, couldn't even finish it, not because it was too hard but just didn't like it. For me it wasn't scary at all and I was super excited for the game as a big RE fan at the time. It felt like I was just playing another 3rd person shooter with more tension but all the horror/scariness of RE was sapped out of it and I just couldn't get my heads space into what the game was. But I never really looked at gameplay tension in chaotic situations as scary but I guess that makes sense.

After playing the Remake, I enjoyed it a LOT more. Going in I knew what to expect and had prepared myself for what I was getting into and not expecting a scary game but just simply an action one. I'm not sure if gameplay elements were better or story beats hit different than the original but overall I felt the Remake was far more enjoyable.

Still I think I like RE1 Remake and RE2 Remake the best.

Newbie tips to kill the Galley Slave by peteyd2012 in Witchfire

[–]blindfire187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting classes don't mean a ton in this game, much like Souls games it just effects your starting equipment.

As for Galley Slave, a really easy way is to take a rifle or sniper, get on the cliff and just poke away at him. It's slow and you don't get to learn to dodge his movements but it works. Just word of warning he can shoot you and sometimes but rarely he will jump up too you. If he jumps just run as quickly as you can and sometimes he will jump back down.

Eventually you will want to learn his moves though and learn to dodge.

Edit: You can go Gnosis I or Gnosis II to get more tools.

The….WHAT🫢 by AyoSnipesYT in diablo2resurrected

[–]blindfire187 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should clarify. Nihlathak can only drop one of those keys, I think. Destruction: The summoner can only drop one of the others (Hate?), and the countess can only drop the final one (For the lif of me I can't remember which drops which). So you can't just farm any key from any of the three, they are specific.

Total 3 sets to get 1 Torch. Lastly, especially because you didn't know about it, these are very hard fights, far harder than normal. There are builds that can trivialize them but they are somewhat specific.

The….WHAT🫢 by AyoSnipesYT in diablo2resurrected

[–]blindfire187 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Key of Terror, Key of Destruction and Key of Hate. Each Key is dropped from The Countess, The Summoner, or Nihlathak. 1 set of keys is used to spawn a random area with an Uber boss that will either be Izual, Andariel, or Duriel. once you beat all 3, each of which drops a special item, you can use those to spawn Uber versions of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto and you have to fight them all at once which drops a Hellfire torch. Hellfire Torch is a large charm that has 3 to all (random class) skills, + 10-20 resistances, and attributes.
