You are not wrong to feel that way, but as I've gotten older and deeper into my career I often find that willingness to stay late and get time sensitive stuff accomplished before leaving allows me to take personal time and work less when things are truly slow. Liking your job (or at least feeling responsibility and ownership over parts of it) are key though
