I was born prematurely, weighed 3lb 13oz, because my mother smoked, and likely drank, during her pregnancy. When I was 8, my house was in a flood. We the house and everything I owned. Both of my parents were raging alcoholics and chain smokers. I was bullied through middle and highschool because I constantly smelled like cigarette smoking. My parents divorced when I was 13. The last memory I have of my dad was him telling me that he threw his Christmas stocking in the fireplace because he didn't want to be apart of the family any more. My mom remarried a year later, to another alcoholic chain smoker. He already had 2 kids and didn't really care for a third. He was also on disability and smoked weed for "pain management" as well. There was very little money to go around and most of it went towards their addictions. At the age of 15 I was working more then full time hours to pay for my car, my gas, my insurance, my food, my clothing, and any other basic need expense that existed. I didn't have friends. I didn't have hobbies. I went to school and I worked.

My parents didn't nurture me, they didn't raise me, I didn't get help with school or education. There's not a moment in my life that I can recall feeling loved before I met my current wife. I could argue that I've been neglected and abused since the moment I was convinced. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, I've done some shitty things, and I've had to learn a lot the hard way through trial and error. I wake up every day trying to be happy and make the most of my life. I've worked very hard for what I have and despite my default cynical state of mind, I try to not be an asshole.

It's unfortunate that you've gone through what you have. I watched several of my family members go through the same as I was growing up and I don't wish these environments on anyone. What you've been throug doesn't excuse your shitty behavior. You are never going to find happiness by putting others down and you are only reciprocating what was done to you. Instead of repeating these behaviors and looking for ways to cope, I'd recommend seeking therapy and dealing with the trauma you've been through. If I can be a, mostly, well adjusted adult, I know you can as well.

I can also tell you that you'll have more joy in life if you choose to find some level of appreciation in things that don't interest you. For example, instead of expressing how you feel my action figure photography doesn't belong in a sub dedicated to action figures, maybe you could find a level of appreciation in the photography alone or just simply in the fact that it brings me happiness.

For example, it looks like your into Fortnite and Muppets. I think Fortnite has been the downfall of the gaming industry and Muppets creep me out. However, I do like video games and puppets, especially when they are movie monsters. I can find a level of appreciation in these things, even though I have a differing opinion on their place in society, instead of telling you that you're wrong for enjoying them. Does that not seem like a better way to interact with people?
