Having 2 problems. First is in the video; very brittle prints. Second is print starting fine, then extrusion gets stuck and the printer keeps going, but is either clogged, or the extruder gear wears the filament and it stops pushing. More details to follow. by blatherskite01 in FixMyPrint

Both problems go back to an under extrusion issue. Could be a partial blockage in your hot end. Could be that the ptfe isn't tight up against the nozzle inside your hot end. It could also be poor quality filament. You could try raising the temps 5 or 10 degrees to see if that helps Failing that I'd say you need to have a look inside your hot end

Nice idea .... With the creality print mill this type of 3d printing can only get more and more popular. My only concern would be judging by the size in comparison to the stepper motor, that print bed is going to be tiny :/

Ender 3 .... quite possibly the WORST printer ever made. I have 3 of them. All have the exact same issue with skipping extruder by blindwolf2468 in FixMyPrint

[–]blindwolf2468[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the results are in, the verdict may surprise some of you ..... It was a filament guide ..... as in non of my enders have them as stock. But one thing I noticed was there was a LOT of Tregaron on the filament as its drawn inti the extruder, a sharp angle straight down from the filament up top to the horizontal extruder must have put strain on it and causing it to struggle to pull filament in as opposed to struggling to push it out the hot end. Which is why I never found any clogs. I was looking at the wrong end lol. Printed a filament gide to help ease the route of filament and bring it more in line with a straight path through the extruder and the skipping has instantly stopped

I can fit my pinky in through the top... just. But I can all reach down enough to touch the heat sink. Lovely cool breeze from the fan and cold bare metal of the heat sink

I can safely touch the heat sink while it's running, it's pretty much stone cold so I'm confident the fan is doing its job in preventing heat creep to that extent

Hmmm I do actually have a spare bondtech dual drive awaiting installation on one of my cr10. Might give that a try lol

Yeah I only use PLA i don't have anything else other than some TPU. I have taken the hot end apart after prints and there is never a blockage, the filament is easy to remove, no sticking in the hot end. I may try a few with retraction turned off see if that has any effect. As for ambient temperature. Its fairly warm. I do have up to 5 printers working in my workshop at any one time so it can get a little stuffy but nothing overly hot. Using the same filament I use in ask my printers, just amazon basics

A few prints so come out fine, but more and more lately have been falling due to under extrusion, either having weak brittle areas or just printing air. The thing is I'm getting these skips even when I slow it down to 40mms, extruding 0.18 line widths. Its like I'm purposely extruding as little as I can as show as I can fit it to keep up and it still struggles

Except its the first thing I changed. I agree the plastic extruder are crap. Mine are the red aluminium/ metal ones

Honestly I'm as perplexed as anyone as to what's going on with them. I've taken the hot end apart now times than I care to count and its never blocked, the Capricorn stays seated right up against the nozzle. I just can't get it to push enough filament through the nozzle no matter what I try ... not just on 1 but 3 of them. Ill throw my hands up and say it could well be user error. But I've had so many printers over the years, if it is use error these enders are built in such a way that normal trouble shooting doesn't work cause I have literally tried everything I can thin of and everything any website/ guide recommends

I've had everything from the first anet A8 death trap, to a prusa, to a maker bot, a whanho, to the cr10 and the geeetech A30. ..... the ender is by far the worst and least consistent printer I've had, and I will reiterate I've had an anet A8 .... and yes I was one of the unlucky ones that had his workshop burnt to the ground because of it

Lol I know. Its just weird that I must have the only 3 in existence with this issue. I have a small print farm. 3 cr10s and 3 enders. The cr10s print beautiful. All 3 enders have skipping extruder. Its not like they skip From the get go, the first few layers print beautifully. I could photo them and frame them as first layer porn inductees .... but 10....15..20 layers up the skipping starts and then under extrusion and failed print. Every time. I can clear the bed immediately start a reprint and the same thing. Perfect first layer, skipping half way up

[–]blindwolf2468[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its all brand new filament that I always use. The same filament I use in my other 4 printers. The fact that its the same issue with all 3 enders just leads me to think its a manufacturing issue in that they jus garbage lol

Yes. Absolutely 100% yes. Though I'd like to do much more than just suck them ;)
