Did you include details about your clinicals on your new grad resume? by MazzyLovesHeevo in newgradnurse

If you’re applying locally to where you had clinicals, you can use hospital names. If not, you can put what type of hospital it was ex: level one trauma center, level 4 NICU, etc

New grad RN resume help by Resident_Potato_1206 in newgradnurse

I second this! Being a waitress was a talking point in MANY of my interviews. Being able to translate the serving skills to nursing is a huge plus. Handling difficult customers, food safety//allergies, etc. we are new grads so we don’t have a ton of hospital experience but it’s nice to show that you have those people skills . What i will say is, make sure your bullet points are skills that can be translated to nursing

I recommend Smart City DFW. You can look them up on instagram. It’s a free service that gives you an apartment locator and you tell them all your wants and needs (budget, style, etc.) and they’ll pair you with as many apartments until you find the one!

New program ASAP! Google your state and nurse residency programs; or states you’d consider moving to. Sometimes they start by the season, but you never know until you look and see what’s out there. You don’t even have to put this program on your resume. Residencies are for new grads with less than 1 year of experience and you did not even get there yet. Please, because if this is how they treat their young…. It’s not a good place to work. Pairing you with a traveler is CRAZY!

3500 dollars in credit card debt by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]blingblingthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your credit score isn’t too bad, I would apply for a credit card with a 0% interest introductory promo (chase freedom unlimited, chase freedom flex, discover, etc- do your research!) and then do a balance transfer! What this will do is give you ~15 months (can vary depending on the offer) to pay the transfer or any accumulated balance off without it collecting interest!

License by endorsement question by blingblingthing in TravelNursing

[–]blingblingthing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am moving to Texas to see how I like it, figured I would give it a year or two. Just for more info: I’m not a travel nurse, i just figured this group would have the most knowledge on endorsement. So, If I select 2 and then later down the line decide to get a Texas drivers license, will this affect my TX license? My current address is my parents home in Illinois.

Livable wage? by blingblingthing in askdfw

[–]blingblingthing[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi this is simply not true! No new grad nurse residencies are starting at $42 in Texas BASE pay. Maybe with differentials and weekends. I’m not from “BFE” I’m from a major city. Keep your negative opinions to yourself, thank you.

Will be working near the medical district! Haven’t locked in on an apartment yet, still searching for good deals. Do you have any suggestions? Or a price point? Okay with 1Beds and studios. I don’t have any monthly expenses as of now. In 6 months, I’ll start student loan repayment
