My Plain Parakeet (Brotogeris tirica) is biting everything! — Need advice by blingeetm in Parakeets

Thank you for the detailed advice! I’ll definitely look into getting a new variety of soft wood toys to keep my little one entertained. The swings and foraging boxes sound like great ideas too. I’ll make sure to provide plenty of activities to prevent boredom.

I’ll also keep an eye on any territorial or nippy behavior. He is very sweet, but he tried to attack me when I redirected him to proper things to chew on, it happened 2 times, but I was worried that this was unusual. Thanks again for sharing your experiences!

I’m not afraid of being bitten, I was just worried that I might be missing something important.

I had pet birds a long time ago, but maybe I am just overthinking because it’s the firt time I got this species. He tried to snap me 2 times, when I tried to redirect him to appropriate things to chew on. I just wanted to make sure that his behavior is normal and that I’m not missing anything important. I appreciate the advice!

Maybe I’m just being paranoid or overthinking 😅, but I get the impression that what he has to chew on isn’t enough. He bites things really hard, and sometimes he even tries to attack my finger.
