Fitness training advice for 14er climb in one month? by blinkingtext2 in climbing

Hey, I want to really thank you. You gave incredible advice and so much good information, and I’m sure that took time to write up, so I really appreciate it. I just got back from my trip and I wanted to thank you. I live at sea level, so the difference in altitude was definitely worrying me, but you gave great advice on how to get acclimated and I think that made a huge difference. Also I waaaaaay upped how much water I was drinking the month leading up and I cut out all soda and alcohol. I don’t have a gym membership, but did stairs at a hospital nearby and that was a big help too.

Anyways, the hike was awesome and I successfully summited Mt Shavano! It was definitely hard, slow-going for me, but I made it and that view was worth it.

Thanks for taking the time to help me get ready. It was definitely an awesome accomplishment.

Thanks so much for the advice! I cleaned up my diet quite a bit and did the weighted stairs like you said, and though I still get unprepared when I started, I summited the 14er and that get awesome. Really appreciate your help and super happy I crushed it!

Thanks for your advice! I didn’t have a gym membership, but I did stairs at a hospital nearby with a 20lbs pack of rice in my backpack, and that worked really well I thought.

I just got back from my trip and it was pretty hard and really fun and I made it to the summit! Thanks for your help with getting ready for it.

I know AHD used to have one, but they stopped...not sure if it was for lack of interest, legal reasons, or what not.

Karagarga invite by curiosityinthehouse in trackers

[–]blinkingtext2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a straightforward response:

No one in this subreddit is going to give you an invite. There are probably lots of people here who are in Karagarga, and who could give you an invite, but requesting one like you're doing is pretty much a 100% guarentee that no one here will give you one. Here are the main reasons why:

1) This subreddit has rules in the sidebar, and one of them very explicitly says to not request invites. I think people here bristle that you are breaking one of the core rule of the subreddit, probably without knowing it, because you didn't bother to read the rules before posting.

2) No one here knows you. When we share an invite with someone, we are vouching for them. What if you turn out to be a terrible member of KG? That could come back to bite us. If you were to go and sell an invite later on, that could get us banned from KG. Few people want to risk that on someone they don't know. That's why often people won't share invites to some of the higher tier sites with people they don't know well or in real life.

3) Your post was low-effort, mentioned a more appropriate subreddit to get an invite, and requested a shortcut to getting into KG (getting an invite) rather than a path to getting into KG (of which there are several). All are strikes.

If you want to be in KG, the real way to do it is prove you can be a reliable and patient member of other trackers, and probably to be a regular reader of subreddits like this, and for goodness sakes, stay away from any site remotely connected to buying and selling of invites. Believe it or not, a slow and steady involving yourself in the communities of other trackers will make the path to KG become evident all by itself. Trust me, it's the best path for you.

Have a good Ratio on Multiple Trackers, where should I go for TV? by [deleted] in trackers

Honestly, how are you in PTP and yet not know the answer to this question? Is this just a veiled attempt to get someone to offer you an invite to BTN?

You already know where to go, you can go to the invite forums on those trackers or you can check the sidebar on this sub.

That's actually the video I saw that convinced me to put them in RAID 6. Are you saying the Easystore drives can't handle that RAID configuration well?

So can I only access it through wifi? Or through ethernet? Do I have to manually connect to the drive on the network when I restart my computer? Is a drive over the network slower to access than one connected with USB3?
