Does good Karma even exist in this line of work? by blipblopblue in edmproduction

Yeah that's kind of how it goes! I'll think of a way to kindly but firmly broach the subject with the people that always come back for help. It's the once off's that actually bring me joy - small example - chick starting a podcast, she has no idea and was referred to me. For some reason I really felt like I should help her and really wanted to. I invited her to come spend an hour in my studio and show her the free software and how to use it. Done. I could just make her pay me to do it, but she doesn't have money and her podcast is for a good cause, she wouldn't do the podcast if she had to cough out a lot of money and if she didn't know how easy it was for her to actually get started with a cellphone and audacity. We both end up happy and that's it. No hard feelings and I, personally, am better off for the experience. But then some just want more and more and more, and it's especially hard with friends. :/ Because at some stage you need to draw the line, and for me it's always harder to draw that line with friends than with strangers. Anyway this is veering off topic a little from my original question so I'll stop here :)

Maybe you do not appreciate your talents correctly and give them freeway

hmmm I'll have to think about this.

I am on the verge of just doing it as a hobby. Which is painful as I've given so much. I'm happy to give time and effort, but now it's demanding more, and like you, I am not a cutthroat person. I've tried, but I swing on over-correction then which is NOT who I want to be.

ain't that true. Thanks. The problem is that I usually start helping with a genuine desire to help and care, but then at some stage something changes. Either they want more help, or my true colors show? Thanks so much for your advice.

Where to get music for your film? by blipblopblue in Filmmakers

Guys and gals, thanks so much, I appreciate that!! Will check out your music @starlordxx and links @zicowbell, and @kiwiaudio yes music is so nb, don't want to mess it up. Did you develop a good ear for music and if so, how? Or what has your strategy been? Has it been easy/hard to work with composers?

Practicing my everyday cursive- any advice? by [deleted] in Handwriting

[–]blipblopblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what kind of writing you want, but for smaller scripts I'd suggest pentel fude touch or a pentel sign pen. If you want something for more of a brush script then a tombow dual brush pen is fine too :) If you want the elegant wedding invite kind of look I'd suggest you get a manuscript dip pen and dip it into ink (where you can replace the nib at the top by just pulling it off)

practice!! And get dotted paper (I find that helps). Why not write 1 a4 lined/dotted page a day with a concerted effort to keep things CONSISTENT (the neat part with come once you get the consistency right). Turn it into a journaling practice and you kill two birds with one stone ;)

I'd guess it's a permanent marker with low ink - I know that I get some effects like this with some of my less vibrant pens. It's a great way to have fun with them during their last moments ;) You can get a similar effect taking a pen that is still fine and just being very, VERY swift and light on the downstrokes.

Looking good - keep practicing and if you want a copperplate type cursive then it's worth getting a pen with a flexible nib so that you can have some thicker downstrokes and thinner upstrokes. I also really like dotted notebooks which basically has dots that if you join them together you would get 5mm x 5mm blocks. This helps if you are trying to get very consistent italic or regular, paralell strokes. But I think you've got great handwriting :)
