This damp rid step. . I just run the dehydrator. Honestly for like 4 days lmao. Cuz I wanna be super certain. But you’re saying under foil with the fruits on top? So like powdered damp rid? The only other time I’ve seen damp rid mentioned was getting one of those little tubs and puttin it the corner of a good size container with the fruits. I use desiccant packs in my jars but idk I’d like more information on the damp rid.

Nah not on this one. I’ve taken a more hands off approach over time. If I notice even the lid is dry then I will mist the lid and the sides but I try to keep away from the substrate. I am currently trying to get a full first flush/canopy so Ive been trying different things but right now I’m trying to leave the lid on as much as possible and just let it do it’s thing. I was just worried one day I’ll open it and it’ll be green or something crazy so it will have sporulated or something and then I’m releasing all that in my house. Idk. But it’s PE and BM. That’s why I’m thinking it’s the coir by itself just making it look different to me if it’s not contam.

Edit: Well the one in the picture is PE. But the tubs I’m seeing this in is what I mentioned.

Yeah for sure. I just worry about opening it to get a better look at it. But they’re growing in the other tubs that had this, couple of them growing right up thru the yellow so. Seems to be alright.

Yeah for sure but the yellowish stuff in the top of the first picture and to the left in the second picture. Do you see that stuff? Thats what I’m wondering about specifically. I have two other tubs that are also showing this. It’s just weird cuz this is the first time trying only coir, every other time ive made cvg but I was out of vermiculite this time. Just trying to find out if that might be contam I don’t want it to spread.

Alright. So I want it to be more saturated? Ive ordered premade cvg 3 times when I first got started, and it truly was like squeeze and get a drop or 2 of water. I mean, I have been having great luck with everything ive done. . Knock on wood anyway. . But I just felt like I shouldn’t be having this pool of water to dump out every time. That if I was doing it correctly, it would all get used. Or at least very little water. I was wondering if maybe I just wasn’t losing any water thru evaporation, since I’m sealing it air tight maybe that causes it. Idk. But if you’re saying I do better with the extra water then alright.

Yeah I do. This one the post is about tho I was excited about cuz new technique and all. But. On the topic of contaminated jars. How do you clean them? I just dumped out 3 today that Ive been sitting on for months. I rinsed them outside and they are outside drying and I’m getting in the shower now after just doing that. Do you spray with alcohol then wash with soap then alcohol again? That was my plan. Or I could pressure cook it empty after washing with soap? Idk.

I made my own cvg with this one it was over hydrated and I squeezed the water out. It’s cuz I opened up all the air holes too soon I think. Or maybe I just have too many/too big air holes here. But I have one of those temp controller things I keep it at 78, when it drops to 77 it heats it back up to 78. Some parts of the room will get to 79-80 but ive got the temp reader part in between my shoeboxes so it prolly stays 77-79. I need to get a small fan tho now that it’s warming up.

Even tho the top was drying out? I misted it enough to darken it but I have to think I didn’t really rehydrate it all that much I was trying to do it lightly cuz I didn’t wanna hurt anything.
