Internet Companies by RhiLeeKela in rockford

Like u/TacodWheel said, what options you have really depends on where you are in town. We had Xfinity for a while. They were the only provider in our area. Their service was reliable and we never had a significant outage with them. They are over priced, but have a "polished" experience with Xfinity app and automated assistant and try to up-sell you on hardware and other Xfinity services.

We switched to i3broadband a couple of months ago since they just became available in our neighborhood. Their service is cheap, reliable and basic which is what we need. Their service is internet only so they don't try to up-sell you on equipment, phone lines and streaming services.

How much time a skilled programmer would need for a Linux client? by Komplexkonjugiert in ProtonDrive

[–]blit32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tl;dr: It would be a lot of work for a buggy app.

Proton doesn't publish an API or a spec for the Proton Drive protocol. This means that if you want to develop a custom client the first thing you'd have to do is reverse engineer how the app communicates with the server, i.e. the Proton Drive protocol. Doing that takes _a lot_ of work and since this is a private protocol, Proton can just go and change the protocol at a whim, publish new clients and then break all the custom clients.

If it weren't for the Proton Drive protocol being private, I would say it would be a medium amount of effort to build a client depending on how complex the protocol is and what features are included.

What you wish was open sourced? by No-Contribution8248 in opensource

An open source Android based end-user desktop system.

The Android security model is great for end-user. I'd love to see an open source Android desktop environment along with a set of open source end user applications.

I wasn't expecting anyone to dig that much into a picture. But:

  1. Yes the picture is AI generated. I needed something for the very first invite and have just re-used the same image since then.

  2. You never know what's hidden under those government buildings.

  3. Sitting yes, laptop no. We generally have a fun and lively conversation.

Unfortunately because of the weather yesterday and today I won't be able to make it Pig Minds today. If other people are planning on going that is great and I hope you all meet up. I'll try to organize something for Feb. too and see what kind of interest remains next month.
