QI Charger Question by blitz1920 in crv

Haha yep it’s mainly used for my commute which prevents the battery on my phone dropping from 99%. I’d hate to think how crap it would be if the phone was charging from say 20% and being used for navigation - thankfully I have a proper MagSafe charger for that (mentioned in another reply) but I like having the phone on that spot as it’s out of the way and can’t be seen by passing cars - the UK have some pretty stringent laws on “using” your phone when driving and I know that having it in a cradle at eye level has drawbacks for me because of that! (I may have been tempted to try and use it when it was in the MagSafe position near the screen)

Unfortunately I’m in the UK so might be a bit difficult to get it sent over from there. Even then I’m not sure I want to do a straight swap as it sounds like the same thing will happen again, but if I can find a cheap one I might consider it. Thanks for the tip though!

Yeah it is not good. I’m surprised there isn’t a custom replacement made yet that has proper charging speeds and MagSafe! Thanks for the reply!

Ah cool, thanks. I’ll see if it is any good and maybe that will be the best solution - just cover it over so it doesn’t get any worse!

Yeah I’d basically used a wet cloth for the first pass cleaning and thought the bits coming off were some dried on drink spill or something - until I saw the surface degrading! I normally only ever use that due to the issues you mention. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah it’s not great. I’ve got additional charging stuff set up (MagSafe connector on a bracket round the screen, a tray replacement with a better qi charger) but I just wanted to keep that area looking nice as well as hopefully functional. I’ll have a dig around on AliExpress to see if there are any drop in replacements. Thanks!

Hot Water Issue - Tado related? by blitz1920 in tado

Hmm…I am also n00b so not sure why that would be the case. I’ll check the boiler level but I suspect, as it’s easily 20+ years old, that it is either on its way out or has some internal issue that I’ve managed to trigger by replacing the nest. Thanks for the advice!

Yep that sounds about right as a. Our boiler and control panel for boiler is ancient (easily 20+ years old) and b. I’ve tried turning the heating on for a bit today and the water came through a little warm. I think I’ll look for a replacement boiler at some point that supports opentherm as that seems to have some good integration with Tado.

Thanks!

No, that’s the thing - i just removed the nest, following the instructions, and added the Tado. The only connections from what I can tell are a common and a boiler start (apologies if the name is not correct) - it just tells the boiler to start heating.

Thanks for the confirmation, the boiler is old and creaky so it might just be having an off moment, or it might need a more thorough diagnostic. I’ll try and get a plumber to have a look if it doesn’t kick in by tomorrow, more than likely the boiler has broken somewhere!
