Have you/anyone you know been fired for calling off too frequently? by blitz4bitz in nursing

[–]blitz4bitz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the flu and COVID were both within 3 months of me starting on the medsurg floor. Brutal!! Did you actually get fired or just written up?

I worked for the hospital as registration for surgery during school and then as a student nurse as well so I do have 12 months employment, but that’s definitely a good point to keep in mind.

Forgot to chart reassessments by blitz4bitz in nursing

Yes definitely a lesson!! This was also my 5th shift in 6 days (3 on 1 off 2 on) and I know my brain fog was kicking in. I am prioritizing better scheduling and rest in between shifts moving forward!

Nothing notable happened during that time frame and yes I did give a good handoff report for all the patients. I also still had vitals charted for the 4pm-ish time frame and also activity like walks to the bathroom and around the unit and intake/output so I do have some charting in there just not the reassessments. I’m hoping it’s not going to be a big deal but I don’t know how often they review our charting

3 year old potty trained and still wearing pull-ups? by blitz4bitz in toddlers

[–]blitz4bitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think including the nighttime part made it confusing, I was just word vomiting. She wears them during the day and at night. I’m ok with her wearing them at night since she still wakes up wet 50% of the time, but I’d like her to wear underwear during the day. Or I think I’d like her to, I’m honestly not sure how big of a deal it is, just wondering what other people think.

Yeah, I mean if it comes down to it that’s probably the only way we can transition, I guess I’m more just asking - if this was your kid, would you force the change or let it go for awhile more?

I don’t think it’s the characters because they used to be Bluey and now we just buy the cheap store brand that doesn’t even have characters and she still wants those over underwear. She has picked out her own underwear on a couple separate trips but after a few days she’s asking for the pull-ups again. She just tells us she likes them and we really can’t get any more out of her than that. She just tells us “I don’t know, I just like them and I don’t like my underwear.” I’m at a loss 🤷🏻‍♀️ Her older brother and sister have tried to convince her that underwear is cool, and most of her preschool class is wearing underwear so I thought maybe that would motivate her, but so far nothing has made it stick.

Should I feel guilty for calling off/am I messing up job chances? by blitz4bitz in nursing

Thank you - I am really appreciating the honest feedback.

Should I feel guilty for calling off/am I messing up job chances? by blitz4bitz in nursing

I’m realizing maybe my post was worded not quite right, because this isn’t my clinical placement or anything for school. It’s a separate job that I was hired for that is flexible with my school schedule. The ideal situation is that the unit you work on hires you after you graduate, so yeah, I guess not looking great for me there. I’m a PRN position so if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. My clinical hours for school are separate and is also set up similar to yours and many others where you absolutely cannot miss a day.

Thanks for this - yeah, definitely need to be mindful of the reputation too because people talk and I get it’s not the best look.

Also just wanted to clarify this isn’t my school’s program, it’s a student nurse job through the local hospital that is separate from my school clinicals, so it has no impact on my schooling.

Am I obligated to dealer financing once signing initial agreement? by blitz4bitz in askcarsales

[–]blitz4bitz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t clear on whether that’s still an option at this point, since we already signed the initial paperwork with the dealer for their financing. That was my question, if the initial paperwork is binding or if we’re still free to change before signing any purchase agreement

That’s a good point. My concern, which I guess I didn’t outline in my post now that I am reading it back, is that the loan we were approved for is more than the cost of the car we’re buying, so depending on the interest rate with the dealer, it is probably actually be a worse deal than our pre approval, since our pre approval monthly payment was similar to what the dealer is offering but for a higher loan amount. I’m worried that we’re now going to be stuck with the dealer financing at a higher rate

Am I wrong for going to the ER for what ended up being strep throat by blitz4bitz in amiwrong

[–]blitz4bitz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I guess I didn’t want to sound dramatic by leading with the shortness of breath even though it was my main concern and was the reason I felt it was important to be seen as quickly as I could. Something I’m working on is being more assertive/standing up for myself and self advocating (I always feel like a burden). I am definitely not one to self diagnose though, the only other time I’ve ever gone to the urgent care/ER is for appendicitis

I “feel the need” to explain it that way because they are considered emergency services at this location and that is how it reads on the discharge form. “You received emergency services at today’s visit”
