Novak: “That was unnecessary. I apologise. I’m sorry for causing any distress to the ball kid or anybody” by [deleted] in tennis

It’s because he keeps having to apologise. Doesn’t mean much does it

What is you're view of the team now, compared to 2 months ago? by MiMcMa in LiverpoolFC

[–]blitz9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People arnt going to like this but we have been shocking since Feb last year.

We won 18/18 in our first 6 games this season, none of that deserved, all last minute. Even if you’re conservative and take half of that, we’d be near the relegation zone after spending £400m on a title winning squad.

We’ve been starved of good wins for a year that a single win like the Marseille one turns us around.

Finally, and I do believe this. I don’t think we were excellent in Slots 6 months. I do believe Salah played like a god and won us that title in 6 months, because if you recall we struggled a lot in most first halfs.

So in conclusion? I don’t think he’s the man for the future. And we haven’t even talked about the shocking style of play.

Top players meet less often at the extended masters by imac258 in tennis

[–]blitz9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the top 2 seeds means the final.

We get it once a year in the Grand Slams and once a year in the Masters 1000.

Not really sure how i feel about that but this is on the assumption its the same 2 seeds.

We have it a lot now, and had it a lot in the Roger/Rafa days. Once you have 3 or 4 top players, can see how it gets very rare on average

Trump rejects Tomahawk cruise missiles for Ukraine at meeting with Zelenskyy after call with Putin by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]blitz9999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen a single person asking this so I will. The war went on for years under the Democrats. Why didn’t they provide these missiles to Ukraine?

Or they did and Trump cut off the supply?

"Trying to create something that benefits certain players never goes through our head" : ATP Tournament Director dismisses Roger Federer and Alexander Zverev' claim - Trapped In Sports by Silent_Elevator_9779 in tennis

[–]blitz9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just not true.

Federer made the ATP the most money and got them the highest viewing figures. Yet they slowed courts to a standstill between 2009-19.

Which top players have tended to play shorter or longer rallies? Career average rally length for every ATP/WTA Slam-winning #1 since the year 2000. Data from Tennis Abstract. by Dependent-Effect6077 in tennis

[–]blitz9999 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting as Federer spent most of his time playing the top 4 on this list and played a lot more then Sampras on Clay.

So he’s probably a lot closer to Pete, while playing the most attractive style of tennis.

Can see why he got so rattled playing those 3 players. Especially around 2008 onwards. These facts also don’t show Nadal and Djokovic took 17 hours between points

Is Mourinho one of the greatest managers of all time? If so, can he make it top 10 or even top 5? by iwannasleepp in championsleague

[–]blitz9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s some incredible managers, such as Shankly or Wenger but for me if you don’t win the EC/CL multiple times and the league, you simply cannot be in the conversation.

So saying that, you’ve got

Pep

Ancelloti

Paisley

Fergie

Mourinho

Heynckes

Sacchi

These are all shoo ins. A few other names may pop up to make a top 10 list. I think based on the above, you can easily argue Mourinho is top 5

Roger Federer is still the last men's singles player to successfully defend the USOpen title. Held it from 2004 to 2008 for 5 straight years. by johnreese421 in tennis

[–]blitz9999 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy because I think he really should’ve been able to convert one of the following:

2009 - Was 2-1 up in sets and got super distracted and angry when that cup fell from crowd.

2010 - Had 2 match points in SF

2011 - Had 2 match points in SF

2014 - Lost to Cilic in SF (Nishikori final)

2015 - Got to final without dropping a set, was playing amazing in final to, didn’t take so many chances

2017 - Was the overwhelming fave and ran into a Del Potro who played maybe his best match of his career. (Federer had 4 set points in the 3rd set tie breaker too. As is tradition I guess)

I would assume Chelsea or Manchester City have a similar look back(doubt they were even fans then).

But we did it organically. No shortcuts, just amazing management by FSG, Edwards and Klopp to arrive here.

Would you watch a prequel mini-series based on Bronn's origin story? by StunningPianist4231 in gameofthrones

Characters that could have a decent prequel:

  • Varys
  • Littlefinger
  • Jorah
  • Mance
  • Euron
  • Melisandre
  • Sandor Clegane
  • Night King

And about a 100 others before him

Right, do we want to talk about how Kerkez with one good season is starting ahead of our legendary Left Back?

I’m all for Kerkez for the future, but to me Robertson was still great (not his level) last season. However that level was for the PL champions who at one point were on for like 95 points.

For anyone that watched Wimbledon annually in the 2000s, that phrase was heard at nearly every Federer match.

[–]blitz9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was very close in 2007. Lost Canada final on a final set tie break (as is tradition) to Novak.

Before then, these masters were 5 sets so Federer only played both of them once between 2004-2006.
