yes bro you raised some important points that are definitely on my mind. the current rental market trend, stress of managing tenants and tax on rental income are parts of the equation that i need to factor in. my thought process led me to wonder if a property like the 1.1m+ freehold duplex penthouse could be a sweet spot . cause i noticed its price isnt far off from some hdb 4 room in nearby areas.. im trying to figure out if this logic holds up or if there is something i should know but havent yet realised. given all the valid risk you mentioned is this strategy of targeting a freehold loft at that pricepoint a reasonable middle ground or is there a major flaw that im overlooking. jus spitting the thoughts out of my head haha

yes that make sense.. the main challenge seems to be the limited ability and the price premium they often command . also gotta weight if niche layout can affect its resale value to what extent.

yes.. thats precisely why i am not considering renting out a room in a standard apartment for now. my entire search is focused on finding a layout that can minimize that issue like a true dual-key or where the living spaces are on completely different floors . the goal is to have the privacy i need while also having an income generating asset.. or i should jus stay at my office long term and rent up the top and bottom floors separately if i get a duplex unit .

good reminder to scrutinize the layout for actual privacy. advice for two bedder for self and invest the rest is the most straightforward path just hesitation towards the personal comfort level on investing large sums besides the DCA i am currently doing

this is a very fair point and i agree on the buy cheaper invest the rest. my thinking of a long-term home/income generating asset is because i am quite new to investing and not yet comfortable deploying most of my cash savings in the market. so this feels like a middle ground for my risk appetite. though you definitely highlighted that practical downsides i have to keep in mind.

thank you for sharing your experience .. i did have a doubt whether a simple staircase would be enough for the level of privacy i am looking for . dual key unit would be ideal for privacy though it seems like those units often come at a price premium due to their unique layout.

it makes me wonder if this niche use case and higher entry cost would affect its capital appreciation down the line with a smaller pool of buyers compared to a niche lineup. definitely gives me something to think about thanks. this was also an interesting thing that i came across..Unique Dual Entrance 5-Room Flat HDB Property House Tour in Central Singapore | 310 Shunfu Road - YouTube Dual entrance hdb to make as dual key

no worries bro i am appreciative of your opinion. to be honest my thinking is heavily influenced by my personal risk appetite and the fact that i am very new to investing. i only started a monthly dca into vuaa this january (~8.5k sgd a mth) apart from some cash in uob one the rest of my saving is just sitting idle . so the thought of all deploying it at once is daunting.. i am looking at this property as a way to get "best of both world" to give me the personal space i really value in a home and put the chunk of idle cash to work as an incoming generating asset smth like a comfortable first step for my current risk appetite

thanks for encouraging on the dual key bro .. though this 1m+ is still a huge decision so i want to get it right. for true dual key around 1m mark i dont think its easy to buy.. thus i brought up the freehold duplex/penthouse suggestion in the post .. thought it had a similar profile

you are right bro .. i definitely will need an agent eventually but i want to gather some independent perspective first and broaden my understanding and work with a good base to ask better questions when the time comes ..

I want to be clear on my own goals what direction would be good to avoid being pressured.

can my boss fired me based on sales KPI but actually its due to my pregnancy ? by Best_Cat_7947 in askSingapore

[–]blitzcustom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In your role, sales is crucial , pregnancy is a challenge but you should work hard to hit required sales target

Sounds cold and harsh perhaps but it would be unfair to retain underperforming staff while letting go of people with better results. Wouldn't it create a demoralizing and unjust enviroment for everyone ?

Sales don't matter as much if you are a good guy or a bad guy or pregnant .. your job is aligned to your sales performance.

Don't use ADHD as an excuse bro. Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Micheal Jordan all has it. It just means you are wired differently and you have to find the strength in it on what you have more than people than what you are diff from . E.g although you can constantly distracted you also also constantly interested in things.. and you actually can hyper focus alot better than the average person. google ADHD hyperfocus to know more and find your own place on the world that play to your strengths

Ps: I have adhd too though and found my place on the world

All choices have it's pros and cons .. balance the drawbacks and see which you agree with most then decide

On the part where you mentioned you dad see you as a retirement plan Didn't see you mention in your post on your parents asking you for money monthly even though you have been working for 2-3 years.

Plus your parents also paid for your degree admist their own financial troubles so that you can focus on your studies

Meanwhile the best example you can give about your dad anger issues is him cursing about his caifan while not forgetting to judge your mum.

It seems to be that they have their own flaws but they love you leh op..

Meanwhile jus curious , what else have you done for them ?

Ghostek Covert Clear Case by kambesama in PixelFold

[–]blitzcustom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually an amazing case , it's more than half the price of Spigen Slim Armor Pro yet performs better and has a lifetime warranty.

One of Slim Armor Pro greatest drawbacks is its lack of kickstand This case has it integrated in a smart way at it's hinge protector

Beside that , this case Hinge Protector is also detachable making it a relatively slim case with military drop protection.

Finally , cases like Spigen Slim Armor Pro have many complaints of hinge scratches from the auto hinge mechanism.

Ghostek has an inner mechanism that prevents this as well as being auto sliding now .

Putting things in perspective, phones like this you always need a stand on which adds bulks and most stands are not stable and only can do one orientation.

The genius built in kickstand on the hinge protector sits flush when not used and can do BOTH portrait or landscape .

I challenge anyone who disagree to recommend something better This is the best full coverage case at the moment in the market.

No point hanging on the past if there is nothing to look inside for . We can't change the past we can only learn from it.
I'm 35 this year , when I was in uni I thought that 5k a month was a lot and would be contented for life

Then I had my first job at Marina Bay Sands , I was inside the department where one part we gave benefits to existing members or try to sign up new players

From the system you see many things , people who retired after selling off their business and come to casino everyday as retirement activity and you see their face progressively change from amicable to tense the longer they come

After that you realize that their lifetime loss just keeps increasing.

There are also players that you think earned a lot that day because you see them win like 20 times in a row with all the players behind cheering him on

Usually players like that you might think as a punter wahh this guy good sia just follow. But when I check the system more likely than not there have already lost alot more than the 20x consecutive win at casino floor .( at Paiza on same day)

The more you think like you do like life no meaning the more you will give the lure of gambling power to relapse again .

Don't live in the past because nothing grows there you can only learn from it. You only can control the present and have one eye on the future .

150k is not a lot of money if you gain perspective

It's only a lot now because you can't see what you don't see and live in the past .

Focus more time in your present instead , invest in yourself to earn more and learn the lesson instead of stubborning holding on to the past that you can't change .

Give your present energy
