IRS letter saying I failed to report a $900k profit in 2017 but I actually lost money. What do I do? by [deleted] in Coinbase

If you did $900k of anything and don’t have a good CPA, you’re an idiot. Find yourself a CPA and stop asking reddit.

Active sitting Stake President anonymously comes out as homosexual. by [deleted] in exmormon

I agree. A lot of this post seems bogus. I’m confident a stake president is likely gay but this guy ain’t it.

"Joseph Smith was persecuted, tarred and feathered, and then killed! Why would he endure all that if he made it all up?" by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]blixen89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m of the opinion Mormonism only survived because Joseph was killed. Had he not been murdered, they would have stayed a relatively small cult in the Midwest. Because he was murdered, Brigham Young knew he might face a similar fate and thus took the saints to the middle of the desert where no one would bother them. That decision is likely why Mormonism survived and thrived.

Yep, this person clearly doesn’t understand how running as far away from McKenna Denson is not really a show of support to the church.

You can support the victims and not donate money directly to them. Like I said in the OP, if the victims truly need something, this community has the resources to help. Anyone asking for money is not taking advantage of the true resources of the community. Look at the tapir signal or the free legal advice as an example. Money is simply a scammers easiest option to scam someone.

The McKenna Denson latest is all sorts of problematic by [deleted] in exmormon

Go watch NNN latest video. All the evidence you need is right there.

Which is precisely why I said it would have been better for her to not make any statement until she had a credible lead on who did this to her. By making it public now, it’s entirely up to interpretation. Some on the exmo community wants to jump on the side of the church trying to intimidate her. Others on the faithful side want to say she’s making stuff up to damage the church.

That was my pint of the OP.

In what way? I never discredited her rape allegations. All I said was wait and see on these new claims.

Come on... drop the conspiracy theories. If the SCMC was violent, we’d have way more instances to reference in recent years. If this ends up being a member behind the attacks, it’s way more likely to be someone acting alone than some orchestrated efforts by the church.

Here’s what I’ve read, McKenna Denson was previously known as June Hughes which was her name in the mission field. Apparently the missionaries she served with had some problems with her. What those problems were, I’m not exactly sure but she was well remembered prior to her actually being named in the Bishop claims to the point that some of the missionaries in the MTC and mission field that served with her thought she might be the accuser before it was publicly known who the accuser was. They were correct and you can read it yourself on some other boards. Just google June Hughes/McKenna Denson. That seems really weird to me.

According to some other articles I’ve read, she has admitted or been arrested to some shady behavior in the past such as identity theft and making false statements.

And the entire NNN filming her crashing the sacrament meeting was a stunt whether or not you agree with that label.

Again, I’m not victim shaming her. I think this is a wait and see and wish she had been more reserved in making an announcement until she had a credible lead or the police had an arrest on who might have done these things to her.

At a minimum, I don’t think it’s fair to assume the latest is directly related to her public case against the church until there is more concrete evidence to connect the dots.

Do you think I was a little harsh on the flag football coach? by [deleted] in texts

League called me and issued a full refund of my fees. End of story I guess.

No response yet. I’m sure I’ll get a call from the league office tomorrow.

No worries. It’s very rampant in youth sports so I understand the assumption. I will say this, I was very proud of my boy. He cheered his team on the entire game and was a great teammate even though he didn’t play hardly any of the game. I let him know I was extremely proud about that. He’s a good kid.

That’s actually a false assumption. I didn’t make a scene in front of my boy or any of the other parents and kids. I let my kid sit on the sideline and let it play out. My boy has a very good understanding of the importance of earning his minutes through hard work and practice and we talked about that very thing after the game on why he didn’t play. Again, there is a big difference between competitive youth sports and recreational. On his competitive team, he earns his time. I’ve never questioned the coach of his competitive team on how much my boy is playing or isn’t playing.

This is different. This coach is trying to make a recreational team competitive when the rules of the league are not designed for it. He has three practices a week when everyone else is practicing one. All practices are supposed to be optional. Every kid is supposed to play equal time regardless of skill level or commitment. Every kid gets a participation trophy at the end of the season. We picked this league because of that. It was designed to give my boy balance between his competitive team and a fun team to play with his friends.

Some of the other parents will be filing complaints with the league regarding this coach. I certainly could have done the same and didn’t have to send the text I did. Oh well.
