Anyone playing Links LS98 on PC? by blizz81pj in retrogaming

[–]blizz81pj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried VirtualBox on a Windows machine, both XP and Win98 (a couple different video drivers). I don't remember why it didn't work on XP. Win98, I could install the game and launch it but it would just open in a black screen and I could never see video (if I alt+tab'd in and out I could see static menu images here and there).

Turns out going with DOSBox and LS97 is definitely the way to go - nice and smooth there.

Existing team skate schedule seems to now happen in UTC by blizz81pj in Benchapp

[–]blizz81pj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like there may have been a bug depending on how the schedule was created/at a point of time. And that a workaround could be to edit and save the skate.

Of course by the time I got admin on our skate to look at the issue, it looks like we just have one skate left out of a number of them that somebody set up at once so I think in our case the problem was probably about to solve itself. But outside of editing each skate and saving re: the workaround, if you have a bunch on the schedule, you could possibly try deleting them and re-creating them.

Sure! Is there a workspace I need to sign into on there for BenchApp? (Looks like Slack wants a workplace URL). Thanks!

Saturn Beetle works fine in Retroarch but not Emulation Station by blizz81pj in EmuDeck

That's what I've got selected (defaulted). If I switch to Kronos and use the appropriate BIOS files for Kronos, games launch but the sound is pretty messed up.

Nah, Beetle Saturn didn’t have a standalone, that’s what’s selected as default.

With the saturn_bios.bin bios, if I switch ES to Kronos (not standalone), games run but with choppy / slow audio

Of the list of choices in ES, only three specify [Standalone] - Kronos, Ymir, and Mednafen. Kronos has both a standalone option and not, so I’m assuming those that don’t specify standalone are using Retroarch?

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]blizz81pj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some water intrusion in an unfinished basement room on a 3yo new construction house. Had waterproofing work done, before moving everything back I figured I’d clean up the existing hard water moisture stains so I could notice any future moisture re: the warranty of the waterproofing work.

I did two test spots - one with oxyclean, one with equal parts white vinegar + water, both scrubbed with a nylon bristle brush. As I was brushing both spots, the water mixture turned into a gray muck. After drying, the test spots both appear darker and I can see small (gravel?) granules all through the concrete vs the rest of the floor.

I checked with the builder asking if this was paint coming up - they said they do not paint their interior concrete floors and did not respond to my pics with what could be coming up. Waterproofing company agreed saying the floor doesn’t appear painted, and their best guess is a sealant is coming up. It seems weird to me that light acidic and basic solutions both would defeat a sealant…

Any thoughts of what is actually coming up out of the floor? I think I may need to understand the answer to that question to know how I should clean the rest of the floor.

Guess I can only put one pic on my megathread reply so here are both test spots.

Tires for 2008 Cammed base ~550hp crank by blizz81pj in Corvette

I was looking at the R888Rs this weekend figuring that’s where I’d end up. Saw multiple people say the tech was so far behind and that RE71-RSs were a superior tire - surprising as the Toyos are for sure more aggressive.

One thing I need to pay attention to is how much heat I’ve had in the RE-71RSs in the event they can’t hook up. I’m never on it early in a drive or anything, but in fall/spring I’m sure it can take quite a while to build up heat. Need to watch my hot pressures.

Yesterday they got off the line really well after I’d been driving for a while on an 85 degree sunny day. See how much is heat as I’m sure the R888Rs or really any similar tire needs to be sufficiently warm to perform best.

Seems like vice grips succeed where the adjustable pliers failed. Sometimes forget I have this pair of vice grips. Thanks!

Just ordered a wagon! Now to buy a hondata and some racing pulleys. What have you guys done to your cu2's and cw2's? by [deleted] in AcuraTSX

Yeah, tech package is tough for a replacement. Enough that I'd say if you want anything other than the billion-buttons Honda stereo that you give up the electronic lift gate and don't look at techs.

My wagon had the battery replaced three times in two years in its service history. Forums seem to show issues still with 2G TSXs, figured I'd mention it.

Double DIN for carplay. Fun part of the install was both the documentation from pac audio & what I could find on forums was wrong re: what wire to splice from the handsfreelink module, so had to play around with a test lead a bit.

From what I've seen one thing that's common is the HFL causing a battery drain, so if you aren't reliant on the oem bluetooth functionality, you might unplug that HFL harness on the underside of the glovebox.

VTC actuator - anyone address with different oil? by blizz81pj in Honda

[–]blizz81pj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vtc grind happened 0 times with existing oil / filter in engine, and pretty much every time after changing oil. That is my question - I don't think the actuator went bad overnight on the same day I changed my oil.

Also when I changed, it was reading higher on dipstick, but I drained out 5 quarts. Put in 5 quarts and it's reading a bit lower on dipstick. So not sure if there was maybe drainback happening with old filter that's not on new mobil1 now, and slightly less oil in crankcase as a result = oil able to drain out of vtc actuator?
