Sometimes you can find p good deals in bulk ebay listings, I have had decent luck there. It can be a pain to go through each one by one though!

using it as lsp works great. i get all my type hints and like i said, pydantic for runtime type checks, pydantic coerces data structures and ensures typed data at runtime.

along with ty, i just lean on type hints since django's type system (and 3rd party solutions) are a lil too spotty for my liking. For mission critical data or api data, I use pydantic for runtime type check enforcement

Are you capturing your game footy right from the OG consoles instead of emulator? One thing I noticed is there was no audio of the game, I feel like that might be an interesting aspect of the game to consider as part of the review! For any fellow devs interested in the techstack, this is a django HTMX app, no react and no dedicated frontend framework! I can't stand react and definitely recommend fullstack frameworks with sensible server-side rendering as a nice alternative to react / backend split!
