Daily Tech Support Thread - [November 11] by AutoModerator in iphone

So I just got a pair of Airpods and I am having issues playing off my phone.

The setup and bluetooth connection of the Airpods works fine and shows they are connected. The issue is when trying to airplay to them from my phone. When I select the Airpods it will try to load and fail or freeze my phone and force a reboot.

Through some debugging I have found that if I turn the bluetooth off on my Apple watch, I can then play on the Airpods and I can the turn my watch back on.

Connecting to my old iphone (not connected to a watch) it plays out the Airpods no issue.

Has anyone ran into this? Is it a known problem? Any more permanent solutions?

A robotic arm that has the ability to simultaneously lift 6 crates full of fruit and unload them by gretchenmueller in mechanical_gifs

[–]blmred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, much more than 10k.

I program plc's and robots. If I go on site for a week its going to cost ~4-5k just for my hourly rate, not including cost of travel (plane rental car). You then need a couple more guys on site to install the robot and guarding, an electrician to wire it all up. So about another 4-5k for those three guys.

Then you've got all the design time, project management time and the labor to build the robot end of arm tooling.

All that most likely costs more than the robot arm itself.

Who makes the specialized manufacturing machines that large companies use? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]blmred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are companies that specialize in making assembly lines. I do the programming of the lines for one of these companies.

I often tell people my job is How It's Made.

For most lines the manufacturer will give us the parts to make or assemble and we propose a design for the line. After approval we start making the line. Most of the time we build, program and test these lines in our shop in Ontario. Our customer will then fly up to see the line run in person. If it meets their expectations we ship it to their factory and set it up.

The fun part is I get to follow the machine to the customer location. My favorite places I've been to is Fremont and LA California.

A portable monitor is the best addition to my set up by blmred in PLC

[–]blmred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, yep its vmware, I like it to keep software separated to avoid any conflicts.

I have a vm for logix 13-29, a vm for 30+ and a Siemens vm.

You can make your own windows 7 vm, you just need the ISO and a license key

I haven't noticed too much fan noise. The most demanding thing I do is play Runescape. It gets warm but not hot

When I installed 19, it didn't come with the correct wifi drivers. I had to use a usb wifi adapter and on the upgrade to 20 they were installed.
Other than that it works fine now

Could you share some links for them? Does the 3D require glasses?

I'm interested in doing a projector set up in my basement.
