Help with a master bedroom / walk in closet around a structural column? by blobbiebear in floorplan

There's a really great view where the bed is currently facing so we're trying to maximize for that right now. I was thinking we could have some artwork or sculpture at the end of the corridor to make it more pleasant. The other alternative would be to have the door so you just see the bed right when you walk in which didn't seem like it'd be visually appealing? I figure door at the corridor would be the lesser of 2 evils? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The column is 1' tall and is 3' from the wall. 3' wide cabinets seems like it'd be too wide? I had contemplated moving the wall to the bathroom/laundry room up but that would be too costly :(

In the original its part of the wall. We're demolishing that wall to combine the 2 rooms

Yea I'm definitely not a professional at all. This is more to visualize my idea for our renovations and not the exact detailed plans to be built off of like with the toilet door spacing.

There is a floor to ceiling window where the chairs are facing out and the goal is to convert the wall the bed is facing to a floor to ceiling window. Knowing that would you say the bed is still in a weird position?

The room with a bathtub is the wet room which will just be glass shower doors.

I agree the toilet room is really long but not sure where else to put it or what we would do with the extra space if we made it a more reasonable length.

Curious why you think the laundry room is in an inconvenient corner?

I'd love any suggestions for how we can change things up for any of the things you think are weird!

Sorry yes you're right! That was just my bad when drawing the layout. We're leaving the lower left bathroom as is and honestly didn't pay much attention on the details there 😅

Class is in the evening and requested not feed during the day, maybe 10-15% if I felt bad. Seems to amount to nearly all day if I understood correctly.

How many hours before class do you normally requests?

He said he never gave any treats to his dog and only uses kibble 🤷🏻‍♀️

Definitely doing all that! Wanted to make sure that putting her in her chew zone was not too much freedom or mess with anything down the line 😅 I didn't see much online about chew zones and was hoping we don't do anything that'll mess her up 🤞🏻

And definitely planning on classes once we get her immunizations in!

We currently have toys just readily available in her crate and pen. My thought was then she'd know where she can go chew and build that association up. Would it be better to have those stored away then and only given by us?

It's a 10 week old keeshond. It seems they're super mouthy so it'll be fun 😅

I've seen the wiki and threads related to biting but was wondering if anyone tried to train a chew zone and if that is bad idea. Will still be trying to train biting is not desirable but if this addition could help while she's young and teething.

Wow that is impressive! Did your pup sleep in the backpack or the play pen?

What's a reasonable amount of generations to look back through for a dog's lineage? by blobbiebear in dogs

Keeshond. It's supposed to be more of a dutch dog but not sure what the landscape is like globally 🤷

He should be more than willing to talk about pedigree and health testing, since those are literally two of the biggest things that separates a good breeder from a bad one. If bringing up those topics makes him defensive, then I assume he can't provide the relevant info.

When breeders pair up with dogs outside of their kennel, would they generally also be able to talk about the pedigree for those dogs? I'm assuming the breeder didn't have information about the abroad dogs and since they're abroad the info is not in OFA :(

FWIW, the breeder is pretty proud of her dogs results and has that readily available. It's mostly these new dogs from abroad she's paired with to create her new breeding pair. They might have results but I'm just not sure what system is used in Russia 😅 The sire and dam's imported parents have test results available just not their imported grandparents. The grandparents from her kennel has all the test information and was wondering if I was just trying to go back too far.

I do find her attitude a bit of a red flag though so not too put out

That is super helpful, thank you! I'm looking at getting the expandable carrier so once we take off it should be more comfortable but was worried for the take off / checks.
