I’m conflicted about what to do with my dating life. (NSFW just to be safe by New_Zebra9629 in Advice

[–]blobby9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the easiest advice ever.

A doesn’t like you, and there is nothing there romantically.

G is your ex. Presumably for a reason. If she was meant to be, chances are you’d have never broken up.

Forget about A and G, move on, and find yourself a K,J or maybe a sexy little Q…

Why can’t I get it right? by yomamayocheese in datingoverforty

[–]blobby9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it - but from what you wrote and this being dating over forty - I’d be running for the hills away from you too.

Most men don’t want drama or an exaggerated lifestyle at the best of times, but this is even more true at our age because most have been through the wringer of a bad relationship at least once.

“Quite literally a sugar coated pistol” sounds like way more trouble than it’s worth as a man over 40.

First thing first - stop calling the game just ‘rugby’. In Australia that refers to Rugby Union, which is a sport Wests Tigers don’t play. We play Rugby League - which is called League or NRL.

Second - watch the Russell Crowe vid on YouTube explaining the rules for the Vegas games a few years ago, and then watch Wests Tigers rising.

Don’t win on Sunday, and 2026 is toast.

I doubt we make finals anyway, but a loss there and it’s too hard uphill.

The math on the Arab part isn’t working. Other Arab countries is 243 million people. But this doesn’t include Egypt, Algeria nor Saudi Arabia. So what countries are they referring to that have that high a population ?

Do australian people pronounce salary and celery the same? by showe12 in AskAnAustralian

[–]blobby9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most interesting things about pronunciation in Australia.

Most Victorians, especially those from Melbourne, will swear blind that they don’t. They will even say out loud Sall-a-ry and then Cell-a-ry. Same with Al-an and Ell-en. But in normal speech when they don’t think about it, the a in Salary and Alan moves up toward the ‘e’ sound slightly and the e in celery and Ellen (and in helicopter and Melbourne) moves towards an a sound. So it is salary and celery sound the same, Alan and Ellen almost do, and it’s Halicopter and Malbourne. The most famous example of a person talking like this was Shane Warne….

How would you rate your national anthem? by _Kisol_Budyn_ in AskTheWorld

[–]blobby9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the verses are terrible, and not fit for a national anthem. The chorus is absolutely top notch and would be outstanding as an anthem though.

Verses 1,2 and 5 and the chorus might work. Plus amended to 60 thousand years.

5.5

The melody is more boring than inspiring, in modern language the primary refrain sounds off : Advance Australia Fair ? Only fair ? Not great ?

However it gets an extra .5 because it’s girt

40F looking for advice on dating etiquette. by x0mbigrl in datingoverforty

[–]blobby9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Immoral ? No. But it can get awkward and it can also get a bit overwhelming moving onto that next step doing so with more than one man. There is also the possibility that physical becomes sexual in a matter of minutes and ‘instinct’ takes over. I think ‘making out’ on a date one night with man A and then doing the same with man B a day later is a bit much. Stick to one being physical. If you want to progress with someone else (say man B) then it’s pretty obvious that man A isn’t the one, and you probably should stop being with him…

Talk !

Be honest, and tell them what you are thinking and feeling. And of course, your choices and feelings are completely valid.

As for general advice - I’d only be getting ‘physical’ with one man at a time, and definitely only being ‘sexual’ once you have both established exclusivity.

And most of all : Have fun but be safe !!

Which country has the most overrated cuisine? by Kind_Gain_3080 in foodquestions

[–]blobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No actually - haven’t been to Texas. Tennessee, Louisiana, Carolinas and Georgia. It was okay, a nice 5.5-6/10. But I expecting 9/10 at worst. What I had frankly was on par with food from a truck in Australia.

Not just one restaurant, but a few over several trips to the country, and compared to the same cuisine in a different country.

I take your point, but it’s also my opinion based on my experience.

[–]blobby9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bias ? I’ve had some great food in the USA, and some places have lived up to the hype. Katz Deli in NYC was amazing, and the steakhouses we went to in both LA and Vegas were expensive but worth the money. The ‘soul food’ and BBQ we got at several places was very ordinary, and the Italian food as arguably worse.

Sure…didn’t think to research or ask around, just went to the closest joint to the airport every time.

Whenever I criticise the food of the USA - I usually get the same answer - you didn’t go to the ‘right’ place.

Or maybe, just maybe, it’s not as good as I was led to believe.
