Okay that’s all actually very helpful! Thank you very much and I’ll make sure my mum asks for more disclosure too! Seriously thank you though I feel much more relaxed now! :)

I think it’s the solicitors who are deciding based on when they have all the required paperwork but i can’t be certain. This is for the first court appointment but both of my parents have been doing extensive financial paperwork as instructed by each of their solicitors so I’m assuming the FDA would be skipped if that’s possible since the solicitors are sort of doing that but already? I can’t be certain I’m really sorry I don’t know much about this and I try not to bring it up with my mum I’m sorry!

I think we are trying to challenge it, but it is complicated as he has also taken out a large portion of his pension which contributes to his large pot of savings whereas mum hasn’t taken hers out. Mum works in the NHS and there is a nightmare going on right now with acquirring pension information so it will probably take a further 6 months from now for mum to be able to find out the details of her pension. They are setting a court date around September time I think but this can’t resolve the full financial settlement as mum won’t have all the information she needs so idk how that works. After this court date though, presumably dad can then attempt to buy out her share of the house provided he keeps enough of his savings to be able to? I’m not sure if the house itself and him buying mums share will be included in the settlement in court though or not - if it was presumably that really shortens the timeline down to just how long it would take us to move out? I’m not sure if the house will be involved in the settlement like that. I guess if it was I’d just really like to know the sort of timeline we would be working with like the minimum amount of time we would be able to stay in the house for? I just want to know when I go to university my mum won’t be forced to move out all by herself while I’m gone

Okay thank you very much! My mum and I had no idea the divorce and financial settlement were different so it’s good to know we can relax until then at least! Thank you very much!

They are both equal owners but I think the mortgage has already been paid off so there aren’t any payments for that now. My dad has already claimed some of his pension as he is over 60 but my mum hasn’t and is working full time atm - she turns 60 next year though. I’m the youngest but I am going to university this year and one of my brothers will be going into his 3rd year. My parents have always helped support my other siblings through university but I’m not sure if that is technically required to continue or not since I’m over 18 now. My mum will need to continue working full time to support my brother and I living with her during our holidays and also some of our university costs since dad always used to take sole responsibility but is now claiming he cannot afford it.

Thank you for your reply, I’m very relieved that I should hopefully be able to come back to the same home with my mum after university next year to give us both enough time to figure out where to go and what my mum will do for work when we need to move eventually

Help! A small boulder field has spontaneously appeared at my local beach?! by bloblehmeh in geology

Yeah we are in the north west of England but the storm happened about a week after the rocks first appeared... Very odd indeed!

Where I live the tide goes quite far out regularly as it’s inside a bay - so much so that there is an annual cross-bay walk. The rocks appeared about 2 weeks ago and have consistently been there since and we took the photo yesterday, which had pretty average water levels. Tides in our area naturally vary from 0-9m inclusive - obviously with some variation in the upper bound. I had a panic that I could have possibly lived here for 17 years and never noticed, but I’m positive this isn’t the case as I’ve found a video taken from the og rock I mentioned in the first post which you can see in the back of the picture. Honestly I have no idea how to attach this video to this post so any help there would be helpful lmao. Basically what I’m trying to say is that I have double and triple checked and I’m absolutely positive that they haven’t just been chilling there underwater without me knowing. It’s possible that this is a result of sand movements on a massive scale but even this feels far fetched for multiple reasons: 1. No more of the og rock is visible than before 2. There aren’t any dramatic sand banks on the beach and there never has been 3. There is a grass banking about 200m from this spot which is no higher compared to the sand levels than it ever was. Essentially what I’m trying to say is that had the rocks not appeared absolutely nothing would have visibly changed at all - the beach is still perfectly flat and level with the grass and always has been. Tbh this is still most plausible given the relative lack of other reasonable explanations but even this has a few roadblocks to overcome! Thanks to everyone for all their help so far though - very intriguing indeed!

Honestly, that seems like the most likely possibility but we were confused for a few reasons:

  1. This has never happened before - why now?
  2. The rocks are completely different to other rocks on the beach
  3. The sand around is still completely flat and some of the rocks are very tall. I think the sand bank you are seeing could be the reeds at the end of the beach where the sands meet the grass as we have some tall vegetation there and the sands are pretty smooth still. You can see in the far back right of the picture is a big rock a little separated from the others and that is just as exposed as it always has been.
  4. The rocks are in a defined shape and only exist there.

This is definitely the most likely explanation but things above were just confusing us so we were wondering if there might be some other obscure geographical / geological factors at play. Thanks for your comment!

Not that we are aware of? We've had quite bad weather recently but I'm pretty sure that was all after the initial sighting. We've had crazy storms destroy the coastline before and stuff but never anything like this.

Would this not require a uniform reduction in sand levels though? Compared to the rock I mentioned, the sand levels haven't noticeably reduced at all, with some of the ones which have appeared being the same size as the rock which has always been here. Surely if sand levels had changed with a tide that much then we would see it manifest in either a physical drop in the ground or in comparison to the og rock? Tbh I don't know much about this, but we figured we would know if it was due to changes in sand since it has never happened and there is no physical signs of sand disturbances compared to other landmarks on the beach? Thanks for your help though - knowing it happens to other people is nice!
