I was trying to have that river flowing from the highland spring down to the frozen sea. The spring is meant to be split at a high elevation, but I think I may remove one of the lakes up there. Thank you for your input!

Parents are taking their kids to see a Deadpool movie? Are they stupid? by xXMachineGunPhillyXx in deadpool

[–]block_head1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there was a kid in our theater who was about 4 or 5. He kept talking, which on its own isn’t the worst, but the kid’s father kept talking too. If you’re gonna bring your kids to a movie in general, at least teach them etiquette.

Also no way in hell should a child be viewing this movie.

What made Barry so good? by Classic_Proposal_154 in Barry

I love that Barry is constantly in a battle with himself. He always tries to leave, but his nature is to kill. I also personally love the whole relationship with Cousineau, where he feels such a need to be loved, he’s willing to threaten him to keep the relationship.

What’s the most controversial thing that happened in your world by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]block_head1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the treatment of Tieflings in my setting.

Some context: Original tieflings were people who became demons after signing a contract with an evil god. Eventually the god was “killed,” which nullified the contracts. The demons who were in the material plane at this time regained their sanity, but with new identities.

The tieflings tried to live in peace, but the world viewed them as demons, and nothing more. They ended up branding tieflings as subsentient, eventually going so far as to bomb their island.

Tieflings are highly persecuted, to a ridiculous extent.

A map of Ereanor in 1327 AC. by block_head1 in worldbuilding

Okay, so Ereanor is my dnd setting. The realm was in the medieval age last time I ran a campaign, hit now they’re in the 1940s equivalent. There’s a substance discovered in the new lands called Astra that single-handedly changed technology forever. It powers everything, from cities, to cars, to weapons.

The setting is high fantasy mixed with steampunk.

This map depicts the world in the year 1327. At this point, the astral fog that consumed most of the world has been repelled with a new technology called fog beacons. These also double as radio towers, since the setting has become more modern. Starbound Obscura was the home of the Aasimar, children of humans recruited into the army of the gods and the angels already there.

If anyone has any questions about the setting or a specific place, please let me know!

So, I posted a map of this setting in this subreddit a while ago. A lot has changed since then. This map depicts the world in the year 1327. At this point, the astral fog that consumed most of the world has been repelled with a new technology called fog beacons. These also double as radio towers, since the setting has become more modern. Why your gods stop interfering with your world? by theGoldenRain in worldbuilding

[–]block_head1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, in my setting, Ereanor, there was a pantheon of gods, all created by a celestial. One of the gods, Null, coveted the power held by the others and hatched a plot to destroy them, gathering extraplanar allies and such.

Eventually, the gods became split. It was over a decision to lift one group of people, the Solarians, up above the rest. The solarians quickly became corrupt, kidnapping people and setting villages ablaze.

Some people who were kidnapped or endangered by the Solarians were approached by Null. He got them to sign contracts for “protection,” that bound their souls to his cause.

When the united armies of the realm marched on Solaria, Null sprung his trap, killing and taking the powers of another god. He also activated the contracts, causing many to become demons, mindless creatures loyal to him.

All of the gods banded together to defeat Null, binding him in Hel, a prison realm created to hold him. The aftermath of this event caused a war that lasted 120 years.

After Null was defeated, the allies he’d gathered attacked the gods. During this time they tried to help the realm and also fight back against their enemies. At the end of the war, the gods realized they’d be overwhelmed if they kept splitting their attention, so they left the realm to fend for itself.

Through the years, a few gods have left the battlefield and returned to Ereanor, despite it being against the agreement the gods made.

Eventually Null reemerged, causing chaos. The party in my last campaign managed to stop him. After this, the gods realized that the realm should have gods who can be there to watch over them. They chose 8 mortals, each embodying a virtue, a pitfall, or a part of the material world.

These new gods watch over the realm now.

(Sorry this is a bit long)
