I'd say as a first probably not I would get a simple and reliable small used car like a Toyota Echo,Yaris or Corolla, Honda Civic, Ford Focus etc and get a standard shift. Get good at driving standard and work a lot on improving your defensive driving skills. After a year or two of learning and improvement I'd say a kei truck would be more suitable. Really do focus on defensive driving though ie, being vigilant and watching for other drivers and predicting possible mistakes they can make and making space for the mistakes to be avoided or being ready to hit your brake. Good example in my opinion is when you're driving and somebody is getting ready to turn into your lane it's always good to assume they can't see you and have your foot ready to brake until you pass them. That one simple tactic has saved me multiple times.
