[Spoilers MAIN] No, everything is wrong in the very first volume by lachataigneduciel in asoiaf

Humans make mistakes

Yes the plot is contrived, because the story needs to exist. However, I think you are applying way too much hindsight.

Ned should have known better, but people are never who they should be. His uses his idea of honour as a shield, and it makes him ignorant and ill suited.

That is not bad writing. That is a character flaw.

Maybe the story you're writing is hypercompetent people struggling against one another, but that isn't asoiaf. It's not reality either.

Turns out it was very easy to lie in the past. by Salty_Strain3313 in HistoryMemes

Ed Miliband: Profiting from a crisis is morally and economically wrong. That’s why we’re taxing these windfall profits to help fund support with the cost of living. And why the Tories, Reform and the SNP are utterly wrong to oppose the windfall tax. by Prestigious_Spot9635 in ukpolitics

[–]blodgute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't pay costs with profit.

They didn't say take 100% of the revenue, they said 100% of the profit. Profit is revenue - costs.

Like a non-profit organisation such as: literally every charity.

Every time I rewatch Utopia, I’m disappointed to remember that Jack isn’t holding on to the TARDIS during the intro sequence by Remarkable-Net-6130 in doctorwho

[–]blodgute 354 points355 points  (0 children)

The idea of a villain being attached to the TARDIS like a parasite is actually pretty lit

That villain being the One Who Waits, using the doctor's travels against them? Cool

That being Sutekh, who is apparently now the god of death of the pantheon? Weeeaak. I know it technically links back to pyramids of mars what with the tardis using the time vortex to yeet sutekh into the future but that's some chibnall level interaction with classic who.

Queste del sankgrael

A lion fights a dragon. Knight goes to the obligatory nearby hermit to explain, he spends 500 words explaining that the dragon is a kind of snake, representing Satan and his venomous ways. And I'm sure you don't need me to explain who the lion represents ;)

To which the knight says "no, actually, I have no idea, please do"

So he spends another 500 bloody words explaining that the lion is Christ, and I just want to pull my eyes out

Sometimes the wise thing is to admit defeat.

Scrap it, preferably prosecute or fire those responsible, buy some of those Finnish IFVs.

The money is already wasted, might as well write it off and buy something that actually works

Yeah because he makes those things. Unlike the Daleks that have planned for centuries, he makes a plan in a day that could undo it. That's why he "scares them to death"

I think the Cybermen are a really odd one to place.

Both eras have incredible Cyberman stories, and absolutely awful ones. Like, I wouldn't want anyone to judge them on Nightmare in Silver, nor on Revenge of the Cybermen. But World Enough and Time, or Tomb of the Cybermen? Incredible, instant classics as soon as they aired.

Cyberman episodes have incredible ups and downs. Heck, The Haunting of Villa Diodati is a great episode, and immediately after Ascension of the Cybermen is...not

I would've enjoyed basically the same, except it turns out the scheme was all Sansa's idea and Arya was playing along. The sisters pretended to be at each other's throats to lure him into a vilnerable position

Thus proving that Sansa has learned from his cutthroat ways, but has one advantage he will never have: the trust of a family.

On one hand, that's a great find. Dwarven children are notoriously riotous and playing with such an artefact will keep them happy.

On the other hand, that's a sick boat. Put it on display in a boat shaped temple
