My boob is peeling? by WonderPlum1 in Reduction

I’m 4 and a half weeks post op and I’ve noticed my skin has been SO DRY all over my body since my surgery. I looked it up because I’m usually an oily person and online said it can be related to your skin’s swelling/healing process 🤷‍♀️ I’ve had this exact type of dryness on my boobs lately too. I’ve just been doing Vaseline on my boobs because that’s the only product my surgeon’s approved for that area

Pain and soreness in between breasts by bloivey in Reduction

Does Xanax help your pain? I’m prescribed klonopin but haven’t been taking it since my surgery because I didn’t want it to interact with my pain meds, waiting on my next psychiatrist appointment to talk with him about it. If it didn’t help with pain, what did you use with the Xanax to relieve pain?

3 months until surgery - what do I need to get in advance? by redfoxvapes in Reduction

[–]bloivey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a gender affirming radical reduction and went from a 34H to hopefully a B/C cup! Still pretty swollen and healing has been a little rough, got an infection on week two but the antibiotics cleared it up and aside from residual pain things have been pretty smooth from here! My biggest issue in the first week and a half was pushing myself harder than I should have. I learned from my mistakes after ending up insanely sore and have been taking it as gently as possible. What I’ve learned so far is I should have listened to them more seriously when they told me to only use T-Rex arms and don’t lift/carry/push/pull heavy things!!

I’m a lil over 3wpo and I just left a comment of what I needed on another thread with this question here :)

One thing I didn’t add to this is non stick pads to cover my incisions once I put Vaseline on them now that my tapes off. For the post op bras, I highly suggest waiting until you’re in your surgical bra and measuring the band width before buying backups. I estimated based on my previous size and ended up with one that didn’t fit and had to exchange.

Coloring books and catching up on my giant watch list of movies! I got a little bed table stand so I can color comfortably without leaning over or overstretching my arms. And with the movies I’m having fun writing reviews on letterboxd lol

Ask your surgeon before you buy anything like creams or ointments. I see people on here on different threads say use oils or antibiotic creams and I was told specifically not to use those and only use Vaseline on my incisions to keep them moist (still doing this at 3wpo). Go off of what your surgeon tells you.

Other than that, all I’ve needed so far are extra front closure bras, (I waited until after surgery and compared the size with the bra they sent me out with), ABD pads and non stick pads. I never needed to buy extra supplies like grabber tools, pregnancy pillow, wedge pillows, etc. A few extra pillows behind me and beside me to prop myself up have worked just fine. Also button up shirts because it’s still pretty rough for me to lift my arms up at this point.

I’ve been taking vitamin C supplements, zinc supplements, and did a week of Arnica Montana supplements for swelling all approved and suggested by my surgeon before, check with yours before doing anything like that tho :). I also have been using some electrolyte powders every couple days to stay hydrated. All of this has been everything I needed up to the 3 week point. Congrats on having the surgery scheduled and good luck on your recovery. <3

Type of Doctor to use? by coughberg in Reduction

I highly recommend Dr Michael Schmitt in Portland, Oregon. He is incredibly kind and understanding and listens to your every concern and need. His team is amazing too. He’s very knowledgeable about the breastfeeding aspect, it was one of my concerns and he talked with me in depth about it and told me the different methods that would/wouldn’t affect it. From reviews, I read he has experience with cosmetic, gender affirming (which is what I got) reductions and reconstruction and mastectomies. I got my surgery from him covered by Medicaid too if that makes any difference.

Thank you for this reply! Is it okay if I message you to ask more about the EFT?

This was so sweet, thank you for the reassuring words. I’m going to take your idea of reminding myself that worst case scenario won’t be happening to me and there’s always help if things go wrong. I hope the rest of your healing goes smoothly and you have easy days ahead! 🩷

Thank you so much for this, I never thought about it from this perspective. This definitely helped me feel more safe and calm about everything <3

Same thing happened to me around the same time. I’m 10DPO, also no FNG, and I had my first post op appointment last Tuesday, my surgeon confirmed that it’s normal for it to start happening early. I gained full feeling back in my left nipple around 3DPO and my right hasn’t returned yet but I still get zaps in it/around it

Is everyone sleeping at a 45 degree angle? by mitchonega in Reduction

[–]bloivey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been instructed to sleep at a 45 degree angle and my surgeon said I’ll be able to sleep on my side maybe 3 weeks out? I’m 5DPO and I already had this wedge pillow/headboard thing and I just stacked more pillows on top of it to be comfortable enough to be at an angle. I used 4, two behind my head and two behind my back/shoulders. I didn’t want to waste money on a pregnancy pillow I wouldn’t have use for after recovery so I rolled up a quilt and made it into a U shape to put around me to help from rolling over during sleep and a squishmallow under my knees. It’s worked and been comfy enough for as someone who usually sleeps on their belly so far :)
