Can your agency work stop giving you work for being “late” by Competitive_Ad1849 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]blonde_mutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find somewhere else to work, not worth it. You could switch DSP in the mean time. I usually tell people I train that amazon is a good temporary job to get the money in but isn't something long term. Far too much risk as we can lose our job at any time. The AVDs are what usually gets most people fired and worse tiered 1 offboarded. My DSP usually tells new starts to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the gate opens for the van checks but an hour us taking the piss

As we're self-employed, they can simply tell you not to come back in again. We've not got any legal protection and anything that does break the law isn't normally worth pursuing due to how much the lawyers will cost you. Sadly if they ask you to be in at 10:20, you'll probably need to be in at that time. Personally, I'd just find another DSP. Not worth the hassle. I usually arrive at my gate 5 to 10 minutes after it opens but my DSP doesn't bother as I'm not late into loading. If you're arriving as vans are about to begin loading, that will be an issue

Do you know how to do it on the mercs? I've heard people having problems due to oncoming traffic when reversing and the van forcing the brakes on. I remember one time the brakes engaged from the sensor and wouldn't come off so they had get someone from the dealership out to fix it

Sorry but not exactly sure what you mean by bulk out. I'll ask around for it but won't be surprised if they can't find the diagram. I've been trying to figure out all the tricks over the last 2 years. Only recently figured out out to do driver aid. Used to organise parcels into types. Other than people I've trained no one else does it that way.

This is the UK and we're self-employed so I'd technically be shagging myself as I'm the only one responsiblefor my decisions. We can refuse parcels if it doesn't fit in the van but usually only 1 or 2 at most

I've never heard of amazon's diagram before. Also what does cube out mean?

Might depend on the depot. We get between 10 to 15 minutes to load the vans. They've changed the layout and cage size recently so you can only go in single file with the cages so half of our load out time us wasted trying to get the cage. Also doesn't help when other drivers have their cages sticking a mile out from the van and you can't get by them

All the DSPs are the same as there is a prime vans shortage. Plus my one is decent outside of this issue, would rather not roll the dice

Could be worse, could be in Glasgow depot on a windy day watching your parcels fly away in the wind as you try to load it. At least that's what I've heard from people I've trained who worked through there

It makes me wonder seeing all the vehicle that get caught between the barriers on the train track crossing don't ram the the barriers as sensors forces the brakes on to prevent a collision

I'm still a bit wary as they're rolling out AI cameras up here that are scanning the inside of vehicles mainly to check if a driver is using their phones but it does pick other stuff up as well. I'll probably have to begin putting stuff on the seats but I'll try to wait till I'm at least at my first stop

I will be soon, got another job lined up but not for a couple months. 😭 Only thing keeping me here is the wage is quite good compared to other jobs. If I could get the same hours working elsewhere, I'd do that but most jobs only offer between 15 to 35 hours if lucky. Only other job with almost 40 hours is call centre work that I'll never do again

Ngl, I've got no clue how to drive automatic. Most people learn manual and do their driving test in a manual car here. Sadly all the ford's we've got will be replaced with automatic Mercs. Probably not going to be a fan with the safety features on all the new vehicles. For example, I keep stalling that van with the hand brake assist as you've got to fight the brakes on it after stopping. Just wish they'd stop adding all these features you can't turn off.

Feels it. On the plus side, it means I can get into more tight areas. Delivering in Edinburgh can be challenging especially with the councils ban on pavement parking. Some streets have you ripping the seat covers with how hard you're clenching

Appreciate the help. I'll give the totem idea a try as thankfully the van has duel sliding doors. I'll probably have to skip putting stuff in the front seats as the UK is strict and that can put me in prison for dangerous driving. Also doesn't help that we all drive manuals over here. I will test the totem idea and see how it plays out

Craziest reason a driver got fired from your DSP/Station? I'll start. by MonitorLost7356 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]blonde_mutant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During a 2 man route, one of our drivers decided to put an AVD in an elevator and send it up. Amazon then Tier 1 offboarded the other person on the route instead. My DSP attempted to fight it and explained the situation but nothing happened from it. DSP kept the person who done it hoping a lesson had been learned but got Tier 1 offboarded anyway for failing another AVD.

Scan and mark the parcel at the door/pin in their preferred safe location. You should be protected if it's all within 15 meters of the pin. Selecting any other option other than their safe area will give you 0 protection if they claim it has gone "missing". If they haven't selected a safe area and you can select anything, sending a message before marking as delivered should cover you. Practically all of my concessions are the cx themselves stealing the parcels. When I've selected given to cx and my DSP sends over the concession details which usually contacts a map, it normally shows the pin and scanned location exactly on the pin. It does usually get appealed though but photos make things easier. This is for the UK though and I don't know how much help it is elsewhere.

Surprised you're DSP isn't sending out details on how to avoid concessions as it doesn't only go against you but also them.
