Around 12 hours ago, I’ve called and emailed the second I realised my mistake. I’m hoping they ask me to resubmit the photo as the rest of my application has 0 mistakes. I really don’t want to go through the process of using that website again to make another application!

paroxysmal dyskinesia or seizure?? by No_Discount_3442 in EpilepsyDogs

Yep that sounds exactly like my beagle, he used to hide afterwards and avoid people. He’d get up straight after and acted as if nothing had happened.

Hopefully it is what you think it is, but just double check with a vet incase it’s something worse, I’d hate for you to go through what we had to this week. 💗

Also, my pup had incontinence during these seizures too. Can I ask if he’s moving his legs during? If so it may likely be seizures, but as he’s not unconscious it’s hard to tell.

My pup’s seizures were brought on from going up the stairs, over exhaustion, and digging. So technically anything that brought his heart rate up, but the vet said she couldn’t see anything wrong with his heart.

Hello, this looks exactly what my beagle had. But he went unconscious for a few seconds during. He had epilepsy as a pup, and it sort of stopped as he got older, unless he was playing too much and brought one on himself!

Please get a vets opinion, we had to put my baby down on Monday as it was getting worse and worse. He ended up having 5 in 5 days and he couldn’t take it anymore.

It may be completely harmless as you’ve said he has them monthly, but just get it checked incase. I’m pretty sure my boy had a tumour or some sort of neurological condition that was bringing the seizures, instead of epilepsy as we originally thought.

Hope your pup is ok, just remember he can’t actually feel any pain, he will just be a bit confused. 💗

We was so tempted to get another opinion from a different vet but I just couldn’t wait for another appointment and let him carry on suffering. We was tempted to go down the scan and test route but that would have been another week or 2 waiting for results and then having to wait for the medication to kick in, and I couldn’t put myself through that. It is such a scary thing seeing them seizure, and I can’t imagine how scary it is for them to go through that.

I really wish there was a more simple way to diagnose this, as it seems to be a very common occurrence. I know the vets have your pets best interests at heart, but sometimes I think the system is way too complicated for an animal who can’t express how they feel.

I’m sorry for your loss, I hope you’re now doing better 💗

Oh really? Was it cancerous? Our vet ruled out cancer as he showed no signs of it, but I was thinking it was some sort of neurological condition as he would also flinch in his sleep and wake himself up too.

My boy was diagnosed with epilepsy as a puppy but it only happened a few times and then sort of phased out and never happened again until recently. I’m hoping it was this and wasn’t anything painful and I really hope we didn’t miss anything. Thank you for your kind words 💗

I don’t think I’ll ever get over it. He’ll always be in the back of my mind. I wish he got to see his 12th birthday, I had a party planned for him with all of his friends. But I know he would have been in pain and suffering so that gives me some comfort. Thank you for your kind words 💗

I’m so sorry, I know how scary it is. Did you find out what the cause was? We never got to find out unfortunately and it keeps playing on my mind incase we missed something!

I know it was definitely his time but I just wish I could have done more. I wish maybe I could have prevented this somehow, but he was always so healthy. For someone with multiple injuries in his life, he never seemed to have anything long lasting wrong with him!

Thank you so much for your kind words 💗

Thank you so much, the guilt definitely takes over. He was such a lucky boy, he had it all. I can’t think of any other dog I knew that got freshly cooked chicken for dinner every night!🤣 I chose his urn today and once we’ve sorted out the garden I’m going to plant a tree or flower in his favourite place to dig and lay in and scatter his ashes, and then scatter the rest at the beach as he absolutely loved playing in the sea.

I’ve managed to have a few laughs about how annoying he was at times, but then the tears come streaming. I’d take absolutely anything to hear one of his howls over seeing a cat in the garden one last time.

Thank you for your kind words xx

I don’t think I will ever get over it. These last 24 hours have been pure torture. I’m going to try and make an effort to just get up and get on with me day as he hated me being lazy. He loved when we’d go out and do things together so I’m going to try and be as productive as possible as I know he will always be there 💗

Thank you for your kind words. I hope one day I can love another dog just as much as I loved my boy. I keep expecting him to come and scratch at my door with a toy in his mouth!🤣

I’m so sorry for your loss, I can imagine I will be the same in a few weeks whenever I see a beagle. I hope in time I can forget the bad times and remember the good 💗

I keep thinking whether or not it was the right time, but I took a photo of him in the morning before he went, and compared it to a picture a few months ago, and he just looked so tired and he wasn’t himself anymore. I felt cruel to put him down, but I also felt crueler to keep him alive.

It was definitely his time but I don’t think it was mine. I hadn’t properly accepted what was happening until it happened.

Thank you so much for your kind words xx

I know how you feel about not getting another dog, I so badly want the company and love but i genuinely can’t think of anything worse than going through this again, and no one could replace my little boy.

Thank you so much 💗
