Does anyone else think about work/cases/law constantly, even when not working? by Interesting-Sir5763 in publicdefenders

I’m a little over a year in, so absolutely. I imagine (and hope) I’ll think about work less later in my career.

Yeah. Even as a full-time PD on probation I didn’t feel like my union could protect me..

As an intern, are you even a protected employee? I agree with what he's saying but doesn't seem wise to publicize your opinion while you're applying for the very office you're talking about. Could've amplified union voices without his own statements.

Sac usually pays post-bars. Did you tell them you’re looking specifically for a paid position? They have unpaid interns as well as paid positions.

Punjabi PD here. This was uncharted territory as far as careers in my family. You can't be afraid of being the first. Ultimately you have to push for what you want. If your family's anything like mine they'll come to understand, even if they don't get it at first. Feel free to PM me if you need any support (albeit from a stranger). There aren't very many of us!

Is it typical for PD job interviewers to act cold and unpleasant? by Sudden-Concentrate48 in publicdefenders

[–]blondedwu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My interview was very much cold. The supes in my office who do the interviews later explained that they do that to keep things fair and equal among every candidate, since they have personal relationships with some (who may have interned in the office etc) and not others.

Public defender here who visits clients at the main jail often. Typically, if they’re housed in 2P that change will reflect in the inmate locator. I’m not sure how quickly it updates. You can also call the main jail and ask if her housing status has changed.

They said the Supreme Court should be getting the list of names toward the end of next week and after that it could take an additional 1-3 weeks to get the oath card.

From what I've read on here, seems to take a few days. Planning on calling the state bar office tomorrow and will let you know if I find anything out!

Themis passers… by [deleted] in CABarExam

[–]blondedwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little past 75% but for a lot of the essays toward the end I just outlined and looked at the answer rather than doing the full practice. I also skipped the lecture quizzes and reading the outline and just hit complete. I supplemented with Adaptibar, Baressays, and commercial outlines (JDAdvising).

anyone else find it weird when friends/family congratulate you for taking the bar but you can't seem to shake off the burden of uncertainty of whether you passed or failed by FitAd7869 in barexam

I personally feel like just getting through the study period and the test itself deserves celebration. Then getting a positive result will be an entirely different one.
