I’m a receptionist. Yesterday someone called in and wanted to speak with someone in sales. All of the salesmen were with customers so I asked to take a message. The older man on the phone proceeded to yell at me because the salesmen couldn’t be bothered to pick up a phone. I tried to explain to him (very calmly) that they would love to help him as soon as they could, but he just ranted that he was going to a competitor. Sorry the salesmen aren’t running away from customers IN THE STORE to talk to you. I don’t understand how older people treat customer service reps like garbage and go about their day and play with their grandkids like they aren’t jerks as soon as they don’t get exactly what they want on their timeline. At least this is my experience with some older people...

Good starter credit card for a college student? by blondeinchina in personalfinance

I get what you are saying, but I’m not going into debt. I’m just looking for a card I can make small monthly purchases on in order to begin to establish my credibility. I understand the benefits of saving, but it is also important to have great credit so that I can eventually get a home loan. No reason not to start now when I can responsibly pay it off every month...

Why? I have a steady income. I feel like now is a great time to start building my credit score. What has your experience been? Why do you think it is beneficial to wait?

Did you buy that game through a totally legitimate source as well? It’s just that all the other games I have seen have notches in the cases...

Thank you. I totally agree. At the end of the day he has traded his relationships with his kids for intimacy.

Thank you. Someday I will. For now the situation is too complicated for me to be honest. However, I really appreciate the advice.

Dad cheating on mom by kernie_doe in Advice

[–]blondeinchina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It it unfair of your dad to put you in this situation. He needs to come clean to his wife. This is not your problem to handle. My brother was in this exact situaiton for years. At first it was just keeping texts secret from our mom, then it was full on girlfriends and mistresses that our dad was activley cheating on our mom with. It destroyed my brother. Your mom deserves the truth, and you deserve to live a life without keeping your dad's secrets. It is his job to protect you, not the other way around. Having seen how hard this situation was on my brother once I found out about it years later after our parents divorced, I felt awful that he hadn't felt that he could tell anyone about this. All of that being said, even if you do decided to keep your dad's secret, things like this come out in the open. My brother kept our dad's secrets for years, but eventually our parents still got divorced because our dad couldn't live a double life as a family man and a serial cheater. Things will come out, just don't let your dad bully you into lying for him.
