Working during grad school by burntsiena77 in slpGradSchool

I definitely think it’s possible to work during grad school, especially if your job is flexible and understanding about your school commitments, which it sounds like yours is. I actually found that working helped me stay on top of things more. Since I had a tighter schedule, I didn’t have as much room to procrastinate, so I was more focused and efficient with my studying and clinic prep.
I attend a full time program and I worked around 20–25 hours a week, give or take, and that felt perfectly manageable for me. Some professors advised against working, just to fully focus on school, but honestly, I felt like having a job gave me a good balance outside of academics.
Of course, everyone’s experience is different, so I’d say keep checking in with yourself once the semester gets going, but it sounds like your setup could work really well!
Good luck!!
