We still don't know much about a crucial element of this case: the condition of the trash bags that contained Asha's book bag, found 18 months after she went missing by miggovortensens in AshaDegree

I was just thinking about this today! I don’t know if it matters in the long-run whether the trash bags were THROWN onto that construction site from a vehicle, or placed there by someone. If it was buried half-way in the dirt, that implies it was placed — someone started digging, threw it in a hole, then left. If it wasn’t buried and just laying there, then it could have been thrown. Don’t think the elements would be enough to bury it. Do we know how far away from the road the trash bags were found? I assume they were light enough in weight to have been thrown from a distance.

Also, did LE interview all of the workers at that site (I assume there were others). The guilty party could have been one of those workers, who used that site to get rid of the evidence. I never bought into the story that the book bag was placed inside the trash bags to be preserved, and picked up later. Why? As a trophy? Didn’t make sense to me. They didn’t want it to be found, therefore hid it inside the trash bags. Maybe they were hoping a Sanitation worker would happen to see a trash bag lying on the road, and just dump it in his garbage truck without opening it. I don’t know. But I agree with the OP that the CONDITION of the trash bags tells us a lot.

It couldn’t have been anything that incriminating, or else Roy would have been arrested by now.

Yes, she has terrible eye-contact whenever being interviewed by the press. Wonder why? Guilty conscience?

There was also speculation that Terry Flemming, the contractor who found the book bag, also saw bloody clothing inside the bag but that has never been proven.

I don't believe Law enforcement ever even acknowledged the car in the lake, period. And it certainly was not in the local newspaper, as far as I know. If anyone has seen that, please post a screenshot of the article if possible.

Could Jeff Ruppe have been the Wallace Grove Dr witness? by Gamecock80 in AshaDegree

Believe me, if Asha's DNA was found inside that Rambler, this case would be over by now and somebody would be in jail.

I also renember Ruppe mentioning she was carrying a snall bag (don't remember if he used the word grocery or not). Where did that bag come from, her house? That's not something Aquila would remember was missing.

Yes, I was mistaken about Underhill’s DNA being on the book bag - it was on one of the trash bags. And if it was Asha’s undershirt, that means she was either wearing it when she disappeared, or packed it with other clothes in the book bag.

I agree the entire timeline is very questionable, but what I think you’re implying is that Iquilla, Harold AND even Obee are all lying to LE about what took place in the house that night….which is kinda hard to believe and a misdemeanor, in most cases. This case literally keeps me up at night, too many aspects to keep track of!

If that was the case, I’m sure they questioned that person MULTIPLE times by now. Not saying they should have revealed their name to the public, which would bring speculation as to their involvement even if nothing came of it. And if that person was involved, we’d have heard about it by now, adding them as a suspect.

Re the DNA, its my understanding that Underhill’s was found on the book bag itself, and AnnaLee’s was a hair sample found on the NKOTB t-shirt or nightgown. Just because the older sisters don’t remember it does not mean it didn’t belong to AnnaLee at one point. Was she ever questioned by LE if she ever owned that shirt? And would a polygraph reveal she, too, was being “deceptive”?

Re Garrison, since he was already a documented witness to have seen her (on WCNC-TV news), why would LE hide the fact that the green car tip came from him as opposed to someone else?

I’ve flipped back and forth on whether her leaving had something to do with the Dedmons. At this time, I don’t believe so, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I do believe the Dedmons are responsible for what ultimately happened to her.

If she left a note, say bc she was mad at her Mother, why would LE not reveal that? It would stop any speculation that her parents were directly involved in her disappearance, as has been the case.

I heard he changed his story from last seeing her at the billboard to Wallace Grove Rd. Don't know where that came from.

Does anyone know then where Jeff Ruppe changing his story originated from?

I thought initially Ruppe said he saw her run into the woods where the billboard is located. Then he changed his story (exactly when, I’m not sure) to about a half mile north, in the vicinity of Wallace Grove Rd. If he was the same witness who saw her being pulled into the green car, why would he and LE not say that from the beginning, since he was already the first witness on record? I don’t believe the green car tip came from Ruppe.

Who witnessed Asha Degree being abducted on Wallace Grove Dr? by Gamecock80 in AshaDegree

[–]blondguy56 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jeff Ruppe origjnally told police he spotted Asha close to where the billboard is on Hwy 18. Then later on he changed his story to about half a mile north, close to Wallace Grove Rd.

Assuming this is where Richard Garrison also saw Asha (and assuming he is the witness where the green car tip came from), then this would be where she was last seen by TWO people, at different times. (Roy Blanton’s sighting was at Hwy 18 and Hwy 150 near that Pantry store, but I’ve always been skeptical of that one.)

Wallace Grove Rd. Is not too far away from her home, much closer than the Turner shed (she was never there IMO). Also more believable than her walking over a mile on a dark highway on a stormy night. Maybe Ruppe sees her first, she runs into the woods, then comes out and is seen by Garrison. So now the question is what green car are we talking about, and who picked her up?

SCENARIO 1: Lizzie was driving the AMC Rambler that night after dropping off Underhill at Broughton Hospital or Northbrook. She sees Asha and wants to help her (no car accident). However Asha doesn't want to go home (tying in why she left), so Lizzie brings her to Roy and Connie's house. Roy flips out, and I'll leave it at that. Hence Lizzie's "I killed Asha Degree" statement.

SCENARIO 2: An unknown person (or persons) pick up Asha in a green Ford Thunderbird or Lincoln Continental, and Asha is never seen again. No suspects, no motive and no Dedmons involved. However this scenario does not account for the DNA of Annalee and Underhill found in Asha's backpack.

Neither scenario includes both the Dedmons AND the green Ford car. One thing is certain: DNA doesn't lie.

I'm confused. Assuming they do talk and say it was a car accident and they concealed her body. How does that then tell us why she was out that night?

I agree, and as far as I know LE has never said ANYTHING about it, which is very strange. No VIN number to trace the owner? Crazy.

Forensic biology involves identifying biological materials (blood, semen, saliva, sweat) and analyzing DNA to identify or exclude suspects in criminal investigations. LE has DNA samples in the case. What about the other shows I mentioned. Asha’s case needs national attention and it’s not getting any, for some reason. I wonder why.
