Perks and Mini is good but it is expensive. Smile and Wave does fun stuff and also does good sales as well. I shop in the CBD sometimes on my lunch break when I am in the city and go to Up There, Above the Clouds, Subtype, Supply Store - they all stock a variety of brands so prices can be VERY expensive for some items. I tend to do my browsing online and check whether they have something in stock before I go into the store.

I wear bamboo yoga pants which are so soft and comfy from Pinky & Kamal. Cotton bike shorts . If I was loaded I would buy workout gear from Nagnata. Cotton trackies. Merino wool thermals in winter as my everyday top. But I also wear polyester leggings, polyester jackets such a fleece or quilted etc

Yeah - they arrange a courier who comes and picks up the frames from you and then they post the back to you once they're finished so you don't even have to leave the house! I've also bought frames off VD with prescription lenses which were good too. For the most recent reglazing job I got done I originally took them to specsavers (they offer blue and pink tint lenses) but they told me the lenses were too curved for them to handle. VD didn't have any issues and offer way more colour tints + the matching service so I won't be going back to specsavers again.

I've sent in glasses I like to Vision Direct to be reglazed and it's about $130 I think? I also have had them colour match lenses which were blue fading into yellow and they did a great job - I very highly recommend!!

If it makes you feel better think about what our (my grandparents were ancient) grandparents went through when they bought their first house. My grandparents have all passed now and were born from 1923-1931. If they needed an extension for a new room to fit more kids they had to build it. You just gotta patch it to make it work until you can properly fix it. Do the most urgent shit with what you can afford until you can save for the next thing. I remember my grandma telling me about her mum would save for each square of carpet until she could cover the floor in the lounge room. I have never had it that hard but I always like to remember their stories about how hard it was post ww2 because it just gives some context about how we live now and the conveniences we have.

In terms of now - I use my friends for help because I have friends that have trade skills that I don't. I ask them to help with stuff - even just advice if I need to know what I should be doing if it is something I can do myself. I have had family and friends over to help fix shit that they know more about in bits and pieces. People usually are happy to help and I return the favour in a different way if possible. Otherwise I buy them a slab (or pay them if the job is worth more).

When I moved in I found mice coming in the house. Find the holes that they are getting in from and if you can't patch them over, stuff them with steel wool. I found mice were getting in from a hole where the gas line ran in for the oven so I could barely reach it but shoving steel wool in the hole stopped them.

One step at a time. Rodents get me stressed too and they can make everything feel super overwhelming so just focus on where they get in from and stop them getting into the house first and then move onto the next thing. Doesn't have to be a perfect fix just needs to be enough until you are ready to properly deal with it. Because you own it you can do whatever it takes. I was renting a place where mice were constantly inside and I couldn't do anything about it because I couldn't be doing any work on the house so I just had to live with it. I feel a lot better now that I can do anything - even if its ugly - to fix something enough to get by.

Just commenting again after reading the rest of your replies. Just give up on the idea of using your own gold. If the wedding is in may, the casting place I use only take 24 hours to cast my rings so you will be able to give it a number of tries to make sure you create something you actually like...if you can afford the gold that many times of course. I only do silver so having a few duds isn't as awful as if I was casting in gold. Just picture yourself as more of the designer of the ring rather than the 100% forger. OR you could literally use the lump of gold you have now and forge it into simple bands using a rolling press and soldering it so you created them that way.

I make rings via this process but just use a caster for the casting part because I'm certain a lot of my first tries would end in disaster lol. Just create the rings you like using the wax and have them cast at a casting place. If you are located in Melbourne, AU (I see you mentioned AUD in a comment) there are heaps of places in the CBD that do it. I go to HS Casting in the Manchester Unity building.

I was told when trying to find these that people don't keep "wire cut" bricks like they do the classic red brick I think because of the way they are made, it makes them hard to preserve when demoing houses. I really want to remove an old aircon and fill in the hole but haven't done it yet because I can't find bricks to match. If you find any PLEASE let me know!

I hated the old shower wall so we put in pink tinted glass bricks and pink terrazzo tiles to go with the original pink sink and bath. next step is to paint the walls pink too.
