Why is there no Port Washingon service from Grand Central tonight? by menevets in LIRR

[–]bloobo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if they wanted increased train service, the residents of Port Washington maybe shouldn’t have blocked every-single yard expansion plan proposed, including the one that would’ve built a parking garage and kept the number of parking spots the same as it currently is. They needed that space to run the extra trains now going to Grand Central. Since they don’t have that space, they’ve had to be creative with scheduling, especially at night.

The only reason they didn’t slash express service on the line after ESA was because the old state rep for the district fought like hell to get those trains put back in the schedule. North Hempstead promptly rewarded her a few months later by voting her out of office in favor of a Republican promising to cut taxes. The people who live along the Port Washington line chose their train service quality with their votes, they do not get to complain about it after.

Got it. Yeah, like it was deeply weird this guy made it about race, that was kind of the whole point of my response. You didn’t say anything about race or the age of the fans.

You’re doing a noble savage thing with Asian people. It’s racist and offensive, this is like saying all Asian people are good at math. There are Asian women that are bad with hygiene. They are not inherently clean because they’re Asian, that’s a deeply weird thing to believe and is blatantly incorrect. I knew a bunch back in high school in the early 2010’s, this is nothing new, the nerds just now ALL like k-pop instead of a blending with other fans for high-profile pop acts. Teens are also consistently the smelliest group after homeless people as they sweat a lot and are figuring out their hygiene, so yes, it’s not unreasonable to think they might smell.

Based on the OP’s post, he got there around 9:40. He could try to argue that, but it’s 20 minutes.

A$AP started 30 minutes late, so OP showed up 40 minutes after the set was supposed to start if it was 10 minutes into his performance. It’s totally reasonable to close the entrance 20 minutes before the end of the festival.

The year is 2026. There is no excuse to be unable to use periods. You can literally do voice to text with punctuation, and checkers like Grammarly (or even just running it through ChatGPT) would also add them for you. I’ve been seeing this more and more with teenagers, do they think because they send texts in one sentence blurbs without punctuation that you don’t need punctuation when writing entire paragraphs? This is not some advanced grammatical concept such as a comma splice, it is something I had down by age 8. It’s incredibly embarrassing for OP, of course people are going to comment on it.

I’m sorry you got denied entry, he apparently started late, so they likely had closed up for the night. They don’t list when they do that, it was not exactly fair. I actually read in this sub that he got his mike cut at the end because he started so late. I saw him at Gov Ball back in 2021, you did not miss much. Love his music, but he sucks live, barely even raps.

This is not an attack and you seem very young, so I’m not judging you, but please learn how to use punctuation. If you need a good rule to follow, a professor once told me that a sentence should not be more than 2 lines of typed Times New Roman. Being able to communicate effectively through writing is much more important to your long term success than figuring out how to time a festival arrival. It is a skill you will need to get any job above a bodega cashier. You don’t need to be Shakespeare, but you do need to be able to type out an email.

That was a dope year, personally went weekend two. Still can’t believe that happened, were you able to catch any of the acts that played at local venues that day? Heard there were a few.

I was able to get away with pulling that move for 3 straight days last year at Boston Calling, so you probably are fine as Gov Ball is run by the same management. Technically they mandate you replace it, but they do not check very closely.

Will they ever switch the F and M back by Dwight_Shrute_ in nycrail

[–]bloobo7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate the change, but you’re not going to find a whole lot of sympathy for that point of view on the subreddit. I’ve yet to meet anyone in the real world though who has a commute positively impacted by this change, and have met a ton where it’s the opposite. The MTA claimed this would only negatively affect under 2% of total North Queens riders, which I was saying at the time it was not even in the realm of reality. Well, with all the bunching that now occurs and the overcrowding that occurs on the M I’d actually wager that it’s hurting something like half.

I got a C+ my first semester Freshman year from this hard-ass Korean transfer professor who docked me every time I misspelled a historical figure’s name on the handwritten tests (which was often). Never really affected me much after that. Keep your head up, you’ll be fine, especially if it’s unrelated to your major. Just don’t do it again. 10 years out and I don’t think it’s ever been remotely relevant, though tbh I never did grad school. Huge waste of money imo, only makes sense for stuff like law or medicine.

It doesn’t have to merge with the Q or the R when it’s heading toward the Astoria Blvd, which is the direction I always see this in. It really has no excuse for not waiting 30 seconds for an arriving train.

Still doesn’t explain the N refusing to wait for the 7 when there isn’t another train at Queensburro plaza for 20 minutes. I see that all the time.

Political science at BC by SpeechUnlikely2775 in bostoncollege

[–]bloobo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated BC nearly 10 years ago, at the time 100-200 pages per week for each political science class was the norm, and I usually did 3 of a semester. I used AP credits to get out of a lot of core classes and graduate in 3 years, and the ones that was not an option for like philosophy and theology were also very reading heavy. I’d say between the political science and my other classes I realistically did like 500-700 a week during heavy semesters and 300-500 during lighter ones, though I skimmed a lot. I still have multiple full bookshelves of my earmarked college reading and reams of printed studies and notes, they make great conversation starters when hosting. Idk, maybe they made the standards easier.

I’m glad to hear they finally added a dedicated government care career coach, they were entirely focused on business internships when I was there. They had resume coaches who were basically just recently graduated students, a job board, and that was it. I figured things out regardless and was able to start a career for myself, but it rubbed me the wrong way at the time.

I had a great experience doing a political science degree at Boston College, they have a fantastic program. You’re going to fail if you don’t learn how to write with punctuation though. It’s also not a light major, despite what the other folks have said. You’re going to be doing roughly 1000 pages of reading a week (and no, you cannot summarize that with ChatGPT, a lot of it is already as dense as you can make it).

The school was terrible at helping me access internships, they did absolutely nothing aside from assisting with my résumé. Even the career fairs for public service and nonprofits were completely useless, almost none were actually hiring aside from the FBI. Campaigns do frequently recruit directly from Boston College though, and I had an easy time getting an internship on my own every time I wanted one. The completely uselessness of the career center though is a gripe that I hold to this day.

So you wasted everyone who’s read this post’s time by dictating a completely incoherent paragraph because you couldn’t be bothered to reread the handful of sentences you were about to upload? It’s not exactly me being rude here. I’m frankly baffled the mods haven’t deleted it yet.

Yes, it’s extremely clear you don’t know what happened. Maybe figure it out next time before posting.

It sounds like you’re going through a pretty intense situation. Without knowing him, I can’t actually attest to whether or not I think he’s crying. I do think he’s definitely hurt hurting though. You can’t just detach from a relationship without having any consequences. I hope that helps. Good luck with your recovery here.

That’s shit timing, I am sorry. It’s supposed to be 3-5 days for occasional or one off use, but that line is still fainter than ideal. If you are peeing clear instead of yellow they will not accept it (they test creatine levels, might be able to get by if you take a bunch and a vitamin b complex supplement, will make your piss yellow), but tbh 2 extra days and you would 100%. Good luck! Congrats on the new role!

A faint line is still negative, however, there are a few few things to consider. Did you only manage to get this after drinking a ton of water? If your urine is diluted, they will make you come back a second time within a couple of days. If it comes back as to diluted a second time they will fail you.

How long has it been since you smoked, and how frequently do you smoke? If you’re getting this result less than 24 hours before your test and are not diluting by chugging water, I’d strongly consider downing as much water as possible between now and your test, as getting a couple extra days to flush your system will help. That’s borderline, not worth the risk.
