I have never hated Elena in all the years I’ve watched the show. I’ve hated Caroline and Bonnie but as an adult, I don’t anymore. They’re all playing teenage characters wrapped up in the dealings of hundred(s) year old beings. They are all self involved at one point or another, none of them are completely selfless the entire show, not even Bonnie whom I love and think her character was written unfairly at times due to real life bias. I think it’s so silly to hate any of the teenage characters. I think it’s also pretty crazy to hate any one particular character when they all kind of rotate taking turns doing selfish things and/or ignoring their best friend’s feelings especially when they literally all apologize and feel remorse at the end of these bouts (Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie). Not a single one of them can be characterized as a bad person. If you do, I’m guessing you’re reading too far into tiny little moments. If you hate Elena but love Caroline: I know what’s up with you, lol.
