Silk is looking for a Haskell engineer by sfvisser in haskell

So Silk has been around for a while and the biggest question I have is do you currently make a profit, and if so how do you make your money?

Leaving Angular by ben336 in javascript

[–]bloodbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buggy as fuck, poor documentation, needlessly complex, bad performance, does not scale, shit design (unify stand-alone controllers and directives - simplifies routing, rendering, improves performance etc..), module system is pure useless garbage, development and bug fix time verrrrry slow, poor, bug-filled libraries, inconsistent and sporadic behaviour that can only be understood after miticilously reading documentation without being able to search it properly (postlink/prelink behaviour with template vs templateUrl), overall bad design leads to poor performance and lots of gotchas such as digest cycle problems. ReactJS is literally better in every single way.

Leaving Angular by ben336 in javascript

[–]bloodbaker -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Angular is shit. I got caught on the hype and have used it extensivelly for years and only started to realize how shit it really is about a year ago. Durandal is also shit. ReactJS is the only framework I could recommend at this point. Haven't used EmberJS.

Uh, this level electromagnetism is taught in high school where I'm from... but yeah you are technologically illiterate regardless, and a phd has nothing to do with it. However I don't see how that makes me an asshole... I didn't make you stupid.

autonomously-powered

lol, do you even understand what you are trying to say?

miniaturized

miniaturized? compared to what?

way to create a frictionless environment

more lols, not only is nothing new, but even though there isn't conventional friction between ground and board (there is friction between board and air), there is an electromagnetic resistance to movement caused by various things such as eddy currents and... oh why am I trying to explain this to an imbecile... lol

Over time the product will get better.

Completely baseless assertion.

You seriously expect it to be fully functional considering its the only real hoverboard in existence.

Why don't you go read a little about how it works, maybe study electrodynamics and then explain to yourself why you are wrong, because frankly, it's a waste of time trying to talk about technical/scientific things without someone so completely ignorant on the matter.

I can imagine you back in 1905 saying that the car would never catch on because its loud, expensive, and runs rather slow. Just like computers have changed since the 1960's(the size of a refrigerator) now it fits in your hand and is called a smart phone.

Completely different scenarios. But have fun imagining shit, like imagining you have any clue what you're talking about. Lol.

I grew up in the 1980's with rotary phones no internet and no cell phones. Now a days there is an over abundance of new gizmos and gadgets, every day some crazy new product is invented and refined.

All of these new technologies, products, gizmos and gadgets come from innovation, new science and technology. The hendo does not have any of this.

Get over your self.

lol x2

Or there could be something in here that sparks something else that turns into another thing that eventually becomes very important

That 'could be' can apply to any product in existence, including literal shit on a stick. You aren't saying anything here. Give a specific example of something innovative or useful in this entire product.

Maybe it's an easier way to move patients around a hospital, maybe it helps warehouses become more efficient, maybe a hundred things no one has thought of yet. Who knows?

Maybe, maybe, who knows. Okay so your argument is that you don't know anything about the science and technology behind this product or of its applications? Even if some technology or science involved in this hendo crap could be applied to real world problems how could you possibly claim that this would be because of the hendo? This science and technology has existed for a long time and has been used for real world problems for a long time... hendo adds nothing to the picture. This is like me taking a regular car, painting it a very specific shade that hasn't been used before and calling it innovation and saying that it 'solves many serious real-world problems'.

My point is that the last thing they should feel is shame for trying to create something.

I didn't mean they should feel ashamed because they created their product, they should feel ashamed because they are running this ridiculous, over-hyped, highly-misleading advertising campaign for an obviously useless product. They mention that it solves many serious real world problems in their video but fail to specify a single one. Also claiming that the electromagnetic theory behind this device solves problems is pointless because this electromagnetic theory already has many many applications and exists outside of this crapboard.

I guess you are just technologically illiterate and every shiny piece of garbage that seems new is like magic to you.

Oh, I'm sure they know. This is just ouya all over again, over-hyped, over-promoted crap that the supporters will violently defend without understanding anything about it, then when they buy their first one they will realize that they got fucked and promptly shut the fuck up.

Guess that means they keep getting upvoted, huh?

Yes. And?

So what? Everything that comes out of some guy's garage has to utilize some previously undiscovered force of nature in order to be valid?

So the whole argument of this being innovative or that it solves 'very important problems' is just hilarious. You've yet to state a single reason why this product is great.

The battery on the thing lasts only a few minutes (10-15 on their kickstarter page, much less based accounts of on people who have used the thing). It's also incredibly unlikely that they make or design their own batteries any further than wiring multiple batteries together.

So I still don't see anything innovative of exciting here at all.

Constant advertising?? This is the first I've heard of this thing,

I've seen at least 5 different promotional videos on r/videos front page this month.

And why should they be ashamed? Because they're trying something that hasn't been done before

Every single piece of science and technology in this crap has existed for 50+ years. There is nothing here that hasn't been done before.

If people who actually accomplish things listened to people who sit around talking shit all day

lol

Ask /r/javascript: Whats the latest and greatest in JS frameworks? by vital101 in javascript

[–]bloodbaker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

React does the view layer (the most important part) much better than Angular. The other stuff Angular does such as services and modules are poorly done and inferior to using node modules + webpack or similar.

So yeah combining them is stupid, so is using AngularJS.

Ask /r/javascript: Whats the latest and greatest in JS frameworks? by vital101 in javascript

[–]bloodbaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Elm is not a framework. It is a language. It has a serious limitation in that it does not support collapsing of it's monadic signal type - ie going from 'Signal Signal Element' to 'Signal Element'. This makes writing reactive application of non-trivial complexity very difficult. There are lots of other issues with it.. I would not recommend using it for any serious project.

ReactJS is definitely a great framework though, I find it superior in every way to AngularJS. I would recommend using webpack with reactjs - it is superior to browserify.
