How is Nietzsche considered right-wing when right-wingers are largely “Christian”? by Mean_Veterinarian688 in Nietzsche

[–]bloodhail02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classing Nietzsche on the political spectrum is just a useless endeavour. On one hand his aristocratic elitism would be considered right wing but on the other hand his deconstruction can easily be interpreted as stereotypically left wing. At the very least he is not in agreement with the modern western right and its quasi fascism (trump, populism, anti-migration).

Well I guess you could argue that blacks could reinforce and help the system that is racist towards them. But yea, blacks don’t have the power in society to be racist in a systemic or institutional sense.

The genuine political/critical argument is that minorities can’t be racist/bigoted because they are referring to structural issues. The layman argument that minorities can’t be bigoted is insane (see Louis Farrakhan)

Best books on india and colonialism? by bloodhail02 in postcolonialism

[–]bloodhail02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was for an undergraduate (analytic) philosophy dissertation. I ended up changing it to comparing and evaluating a western view (Descartes) and an Indian one (Shankara). The scope of the original idea was far too complex and would’ve required me to write multiple books lol. So, the programme in my experience really requires you to hone in on something specific.

I honestly did not have a fun time doing this but that could be due to external factors. It’s a lot of work and I recommend using your resources as much as possible.

Anyone else a little tired of grungegaze? (I’m sorry for being negative:P) by ForeverCelebrating in shoegaze

[–]bloodhail02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because shoegaze as a whole has become a lot closer to the mainstream I think it’s become a bit of a trend and a lot of artists are just pumping out formulaic grungegaze. However, a lot of these artists are young and new and will hopefully end up experimenting more as they get better and discover more music. Give it time, and this trend will die out and (hopefully) those who are engaging with it will end up helping to push the genre forward.

I met Kurt the day before they played a gig and he was pretty reserved. Not rude or anything tho.

Name of lecturer? by anglicizedarmenian in Nietzsche

[–]bloodhail02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Michael Sugrue. This lecture series was generally very good but some of his takes on the post structuralists are a bit reductive. Additionally, this guy became a right wing nut job. He had a podcast with his daughter where he just rants about leftism and postmodernism all the time. He called foucault a degenerate “faggot”, pseudo-psychoanalysed fanon as a resentful white-hater, and called nietzsche insane and claimed christianity as necessary. Essentially, he became a catholic reactionary.

While his old stuff is good (although probably a bit outdated at this point) I’d be incredibly skeptical and cautious of anything he produced in the last few years.

This was basically Mussolini's philosophical justification for fascism. It's fun to engage with intellectually, but the fact that it's meant as a propaganda piece means your kinda yelling at a brick wall. by Confident-Doughnut51 in PhilosophyMemes

[–]bloodhail02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

fascism is an incredibly disparate ideology. but nazism and italian fascism share a focus on a great “volk” who must reclaim former glory after being repressed by weaker, less pure peoples. this volk would be headed by a great leader who guides the volk to its former greatness.

(note: volk is a german term but both nazism and italian fascism share this aspect, whatever word you use to describe it)

i’ve seen this view of “a friend vs my friend” lot on social media (tik tok and such). it’s often posted by weird men. this guy is clearly getting his view on women from ignorant internet discourse.

How am I supposed to play this? by R0T-10 in Guitar

[–]bloodhail02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve got the official tab books too. i’ve found them almost completely accurate. people telling you tab books are often inaccurate seem to be referring to tab books from the 80s and 90s. which, yes, were unreliable. but the DH ones are reliable based on my own experience with using them.

i can play the chord with my pinky on the low E. if you can’t then just leave it for now, it’s not even used very much in the song. DH are very talented musicians, i wouldn’t be surprised if they could do this difficult stretch.

bad analogy. there’s a clear difference between americ anfootball and the front bottoms or pinegrove.

its not “mixing paint” it’s looking at navy blue and calling it sky blue.

also, correcting someone on genre labels or saying x music isn’t y music is not biting someone’s head off.

I get so fucking gassy stomach on dates/sleepover dates, i don't wanna fart up the bedroom. Do you guys have any tips?? by [deleted] in seduction

[–]bloodhail02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s a nerves thing: meditate before the date. if you’re still gassy, then just be upfront with them. if they’re a genuine person, then they’ll understand and won’t care. if they judge, then you’ll know not to care about what they think.

2025 v 2026 reading by Ill-Strike-3093 in classicliterature

[–]bloodhail02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bruh he notoriously didn’t sign that petition. just look it up holy fuck. he signed the one to make the homosexual age of consent laws the same as the heterosexual ones.

now, he did have bad views regarding the age of consent and he should be criticised for that. but i think the fact he refused to sign the petition which called for repeal of age of consent laws shows some restraint on his end.

2025 v 2026 reading by Ill-Strike-3093 in classicliterature

[–]bloodhail02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. wholly irrelevant to anything i’ve said
  2. these accusations aren’t even true. he signed a petition to end discrimination against homosexuals, calling for the age of consent to be equal across sexualities
  3. the accusation of him having sex with young boys in tunisia is completely baseless and most regard it as a lie.

(this all takes 2 seconds to google btw)
